Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams had a quiet rookie season after being selected in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, after being held out of the entire preseason, it looks like he has a real role in Sean McVay's offense this year.
The Notre Dame product delivered a big fantasy week in his season debut and is now comfortably on the fantasy football radar.
Is Williams worth picking up from the waiver wire ahead of Week 2? Let's dive into his Week 1 performance and Week 2 outlook.

What Did Kyren Williams Do In Week 1?
Against the NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks, Williams rushed 15 times for 52 yards and two touchdowns and saw two targets in the 30-13 win. The Rams offense looked surprisingly good, and Williams benefitted from the offensive production.
Cam Akers finished with 22 rushing attempts, but 11 of those carries came on the team's final two drives in what was essentially garbage time. Akers only posted 29 yards on those 22 carries. In the first half, Williams played 26 snaps and Akers played just four.
Ultimately, it sure looks like Williams is the primary running back for the Rams until further notice.
Should I Pickup Kyren Williams Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
While it's important not to overreact to Week 1, it's tough to envision Williams' workload mightily dropping off after his usage against Seattle. It's worth noting the Rams have a difficult matchup with the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 and Williams is a sit candidate, but he's worth picking up for later in the year.
If Los Angeles continues to exceed expectations on offense, there could be more fantasy output from its offensive weapons than previously projected.
You shouldn't blow all your FAAB on Williams after a small glimpse of production, but having a deep stable of running backs on your bench is valuable in fantasy leagues of all shapes and sizes.
