New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson has had a breakout 2022 season. The former Oregon Duck star is the TE8 for the year, averaging 7.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Furthermore, he leads the team with seven receiving touchdowns. Over the first two years of his career, Johnson had only four touchdowns in 21 games.
Last week, the veteran tight end had his best performance of the year against the Atlanta Falcons.

Should I Pickup Juwan Johnson For Week 16?
In the Week 15 matchup against the divisional rival, Johnson had four receptions for 67 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The veteran tight end scored 20.7 fantasy points in the win, a season-high. Furthermore, he has five touchdowns over his past five contests.
While he is coming off his best performance of the year, should fantasy players add Johnson off the waiver wire? Unfortunately, the former Oregon star has a difficult matchup in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns.
The AFC North team has held tight ends to only 7.3 fantasy points per game this season, one of the lower averages in the league. Furthermore, they have surrendered only two receiving touchdowns to tight ends this year, the third-fewest in the NFL.
Last week, Cleveland held Mark Andrews to only three receptions on seven targets for 31 receiving yards and 4.6 fantasy points.
What Other Tight Ends Should I Consider For Week 16?
Instead of adding Johnson off the waiver wire, fantasy players should add Chigoziem Okonkwo. The rookie tight end has been on fire lately and is still available in over 85% of ESPN leagues.
The Tennessee Titans tight end was a popular streaming candidate last week. He didn’t let fantasy players down as he caught four of five targets for 54 receiving yards and scored eight fantasy points against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Furthermore, Okonkwo played a season-high 60% of the snaps against Los Angeles and had a 56.3% route participation rate. More importantly, the rookie has become a critical part of Tennessee’s offense lately.
Over the past three weeks, Okonkwo has seen at least five targets and scored eight or more fantasy points in every contest.
In Week 16, he faces the Houston Texans. They have surrendered 10.2 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, one of the highest averages in the NFL. Okonkwo should be the most added tight end off the waiver wire this week.
