Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith has been a fantasy surprise this season. The veteran quarterback is the QB6 for the year, averaging 19.6 fantasy points per game.
However, the former second-round pick has been unstoppable over the past few weeks. Over the past three weeks, Smith has been the QB2, averaging 25.2 fantasy points per game.
Furthermore, the veteran quarterback has been very proficient this year. He has completed 75.2% of his pass attempts and averaged 0.83 fantasy points per completion.

Should I Pickup Geno Smith?
Fantasy players who don’t currently have a set-it-and-forget-it QB1 should consider adding the Seattle quarterback. Even fantasy players with a reliable QB1 should consider picking up Smith.
With the byes starting this week, fantasy players might be able to work out a deal and trade away Smith while his value is at an all-time high.
The veteran quarterback has thrown at least two touchdowns in 80% of the games this season, including three straight. Furthermore, Smith has more touchdown passes this season than several elite quarterbacks.
If Smith is available on the waiver wire, add him immediately. He has top-five upside this week, thanks to his matchup. The Arizona Cardinals have surrendered the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, surrendering 19.5 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, they have given up 22.9 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks not named Baker Mayfield this season.
What Other Quarterbacks Should I Consider?
Fantasy players who are streaming the position or need a bye-week replacement for Derek Carr or Jared Goff should add Smith if possible. However, he likely isn’t available on the waiver wire in your league, as he is available in only 29% of ESPN leagues.
If Smith isn’t an option, fantasy players should consider Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, or Kenny Pickett. All three are available in 70% or more of ESPN leagues.
Of the three, Pickett is my favorite this week. While he faces a talented Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, the rookie quarterback played well last week against the Buffalo Bills, throwing for over 300 yards.
Furthermore, the Buccaneers have given up 217 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and 19.2 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks over the past three weeks. More importantly, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be in negative game script most of the time on Sunday. Thus, Pickett will have plenty of opportunities to score garbage time fantasy points.
