In a surprising turn of events, second-year running back Eno Benjamin has been released by the Arizona Cardinals, just weeks after an impressive showing as the team's lead back in the absence of James Conner.
Benjamin has been a popular running back handcuff and bench stash with upside, so those who invested FAAB or waiver priority in him look to be out of luck, depending on his landing spot.
However, this opens the door for Darrel Williams, who has been on injured reserve since after Week 8, or rookie Keontay Ingram to be the Cardinals' RB2 in the fantasy football playoffs. Is either player worth picking up? If so, which one will ultimately have the most upside?

Why Did Eno Benjamin Get Released?
It's tough to know exactly why Benjamin was released, but it's probably a sign that Williams (hip) will return to the active roster when eligible in Week 14, and they like what they've seen out of Ingram in his rookie season.
Sometimes, this kind of decision comes down to who can play special teams, so if Benjamin wasn't a contributor on special teams and Ingram passed him on the depth chart, there's no room for him on the active roster. Despite Benjamin posting 113 yards on 16 touches in his first start against the New Orleans Saints in late October, the team felt fine with their running back room without him.
Benjamin was claimed off waiver by the Houston Texans -- not a great landing spot for the young running back. He figures to be stuck behind Dameon Pierce in a struggling offense, but there's a small chance he could have PPR value if they deploy him on third downs.
Should I Pickup Darrel Williams or Keaontay Ingram in Fantasy Football?
Since Williams cannot return until Week 14, Ingram is a high-priority waiver add heading into Week 11. Ingram saw five snaps in Week 10 as Conner dominated all running back opportunities, but it was notable that Ingram was the clear RB2.
Arizona could've simply moved Ingram to the practice squad and kept Benjamin on the roster, but they clearly want Ingram suited up for game day. In deep leagues with a ton of roster spots, it might be worth stashing Williams in your IR spot for a few weeks, but Ingram has the most short-term and long-term upside.
James Conner has missed at least a few games every season, and since he's not getting any younger, his injury risk continues to rise. Behind Ingram, Ty'Son Williams and Corey Clement could be factors, but it'd be surprising if either player passed Ingram on the depth chart at this point in the season.
