Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo was a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of the University of Maryland.
The rookie tight end has had a limited role for most of the year, playing behind veterans Austin Hooper and Geoff Swaim.
However, the former Terrapin has picked up his play recently.

How Well Has Chigoziem Okonkwo Played This Season?
Over the first seven games of the year, Okonkwo had only five receptions on eight targets. He scored only 13.3 half-point PPR fantasy points during that span, scoring under 1.5 points in all but one contest. The rookie tight end played more than 30% of the snaps in only one game.
Yet, Okonkwo has been productive when given targets. He has been an explosive playmaker as a rookie. His ability to play 15-plus yards plays has been on display despite having only 31 targets this season.
More importantly, the rookie has picked up his play lately. Before yesterday’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the former Maryland star averaged two receptions on 3.4 targets for 44.6 receiving yards and 5.5 fantasy points per game over his previous five contests.
Furthermore, Okonkwo averaged 22.3 yards and 2.73 fantasy points per reception during that span. Despite having only one reception in three of those contests, the rookie had at least 30 yards in every game.
Should I Pickup Chigoziem Okonkwo After His Week 14 Performance?
Last week, I suggested fantasy players add Okonkwo off the waiver wire and start him against the Jaguars.
The rookie paid off for fantasy players. He caught all six targets for 45 receiving yards and his second touchdown of the season. Okonkwo ended the game with 15.5 fantasy points, making him the TE2 heading into Monday night.
Not only did Okonkwo have his best fantasy performance of the year on Sunday, but his workload has been on the rise. The former Maryland star has played 45% or more of the snaps in three of the past four contests. More importantly, he has 16 targets over the past three weeks, the second-most on the team during that span.
Fantasy players streaming the tight end position need to add Okonkwo for the fantasy playoffs. His role in the offense will only grow after his Week 14 performance.
