Since losing Javonte Williams to a season-ending knee injury in Week 4, the Denver Broncos have experimented with their backfield thoroughly. Preseason backfield companion Melvin Gordon was cut from the team midseason, and a process of trial and error has followed ever since.
Latavius Murray leads the team with 145 carries and 600 yards on the ground, while Mike Boone, Marlon Mack, and most recently, Chase Edmonds, have taken turns complementing the former New Orlean Saint. Edmonds started the year in Miami, was ineffective, and was promptly cut from the roster. The former Dolphin has found a new level of efficiency with the Broncos.
Is this a sign of things to come for Edmonds? Should you pick him up in fantasy leagues after his Week 17 showing?

What Did Chase Edmonds Do In Week 17?
The 26-year-old running back totaled 73 scrimmage yards off 10 touches in Week 17's three-point loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Although mustering a mere 10.3 fantasy points, Edmonds' 73 yards were a season-high.
This comes a week after totaling 53 yards off eight touches. Albeit a small sample size, the former Arizona Cardinal is averaging 12.2 yards per reception over the past two weeks with the Broncos. Edmonds is averaging an efficient 5.0 yards per carry over the past two games.
Edmonds had a crucial 27-yard reception on 3rd & 9 in the second quarter of last week's game.
Should I Pickup Chase Edmonds Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
Edmonds and the Denver Broncos play at home against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 18. The Chargers need to win to keep the five seed in the AFC Playoffs. If Denver upsets Los Angeles, the Chargers would slide to the sixth seed and match up with either the Bills, Bengals, or Chiefs, depending on how everything else plays out.
The Chargers are allowing the eighth-most fantasy points to running backs this year. They've allowed the sixth-most rushing yards in the 2022-23 NFL season.
Denver is likely to be playing from behind for most of this game. LA has given up an astounding 83 receptions to running backs this year. Edmonds will be on the field frequently and should receive a healthy supply of targets, making him a viable addition for the last week of the season.
