The San Francisco 49ers are a juggernaut and one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl this season. The craziest part? They're doing it with their third-string quarterback.
San Francisco drafted Brock Purdy with the final pick in the 2022 NFL draft and he now finds himself leading his team to a 12-4 record, an NFC West title, and a chance at a Lombardi trophy next month. A truly remarkable story.
The question now facing fantasy managers is whether or not to grab him off the waiver wire. Can he lead you to a championship? Let's find out.

What Did Brock Purdy Do In Week 17 Fantasy Football?
Purdy threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns while adding one interception in the team's 37-34 Week 17 win over the Raiders in Week 17.
Considering he was "Mr. Irrelevant"(the final pick) in last year's draft, he has performed well above expectations in his first season. Has he looked like Joe Montana in his prime? No, but he is 4-0 as a starter and is successfully leading the hottest team in the NFL.
Adding to the unique nature of this story is that Purdy is the team's third choice. Trey Lance started the season under center but was soon replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo. Both were lost during the season due to injury before the 23-year-old from Iowa State stole the spotlight and made the unexpected a reality.
Were There Any Worrying Signs With Brock Purdy in Week 17?
The San Francisco signal caller did throw an interception on Sunday; however, he has now thrown multiple touchdowns in all of his starts.
His passer rating on Sunday was 95.4, which is excellent, but on the season, it's even better. Purdy has the highest rating in the NFL since he took over as a starter (112.7), and is showing no signs of slowing down.
The likelihood that the boy from Gilbert, Arizona is going to become the next Tom Brady isn't high. However, in his first four games, he has proven he will provide consistency if nothing else.
Should I Pickup Brock Purdy Off the Waiver Wire For Week 18 Fantasy Football?
The 49ers have shown they are an excellent football team on both sides of the ball, but offensively, they weren't exactly lighting the world on fire early in the season.
However, since Purdy has taken over, they have scored 30 or more points in four of his five games played. They had only three games with over 30 points scored before he was given the starting job. In Week 18, he faces a poor Arizona defense, which should give him plenty of opportunities to produce more fantasy magic.
He is young, mostly unproven, and inexperienced. But he has shown in a limited sampling that he can be a solid contributor on a fantasy football title team.
