Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson’s career hasn’t gotten off to the ideal start. The rookie was shot in an attempted carjacking right before the regular season started.
The former Alabama running back was shot twice in the lower body in late August. While many believed he wouldn’t play this season, Robinson returned in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans.
In his first career game, the third-round pick had nine rushing attempts for 22 yards and scored 2.2 half-point PPR fantasy points. More importantly, the former Alabama star led the team in rushing attempts and played only two fewer snaps than Antonio Gibson.

Should I Pickup Brian Robinson in Fantasy Football?
Only four days after his career debut, Robinson got the start in Week 6 against the Chicago Bears. The rookie running back played a team-high 47% of the snaps, nearly doubling Antonio Gibson in snaps played.
More importantly, Robinson had 17 rushing attempts for 60 yards and scored the first touchdown of his career. He ended the game with 12 half-point PPR fantasy points and ended Week 6 as the RB17.
The Commanders’ rookie is rostered in just over 50% of ESPN leagues. If he is still on the waiver wire in your league, now is the time to grab him.
Gibson’s workload has decreased every week since the opening weekend. Over the first three games of the year, Gibson averaged 16.7 touches and 12.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. However, the former starter has only 14 touches and 12.2 fantasy points over the past two weeks.
In short, Robinson is the lead back in Washington, and his role should only grow from here.
What Other RB Options Should I Consider in Fantasy Football?
If the rookie running back is available, he should be your top waiver claim this week. However, which running backs should fantasy players target if Robinson isn’t available?
Rachaad White, Latavius Murray, and Kenyan Drake are three running backs I would target. All three are rostered in under 30% of ESPN leagues.
Fantasy players who want the most long-term upside should grab White. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie has seen an increase in touches the past three weeks, averaging 7.7 touches and 7.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he is an injury to Leonard Fournette away from a featured workload.
Meanwhile, fantasy players who need a bye-week replacement for Dalvin Cook or Miles Sanders should add Drake. The Baltimore Ravens running back is coming off his best performance of the year, scoring 19.2 half-point PPR fantasy points in Week 6. J.K. Dobbins aggravated his surgically repaired knee and couldn't finish the game.
If Dobbins can’t play this week, Drake has a top-20 upside. The Cleveland Browns have surrendered 26.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game to running backs this season, the third-most in the NFL. If Dobbins and Gus Edwards are out this week, Drake is a must-start.
