Atlanta Falcons rookie running back Tyler Allgeier has quietly strung together a productive rookie season on the ground for a run-heavy team. The 22-year-old out of BYU has rushed 148 times for 743 yards and two touchdowns and has added 11 catches for 84 yards and a score through the air.
Allgeier leads the Falcons in rushing despite splitting backfield work with veteran Cordarrelle Patterson and fellow rookie Caleb Huntley over the course of the season.
The former college linebacker was a productive rusher in college once converting back to running back, and the fifth-rounder’s hard-nosed style of play has translated well for Atlanta.

What Did Tyler Allgeier Do In Week 15?
Allgeier gashed a respectable New Orleans front seven in Week 15 for 139 yards and a score on 17 carries in the 21-18 loss. It was his first career game running for over 100 yards, as his previous high was 99 in Week 9 against the Chargers.
With his lead role in a heavy rushing attack, his floor is high for the rest of the season although he likely needs a touchdown to put up league-winning numbers.
What Is Tyler Allgeier's Outlook For The Fantasy Playoffs?
Caleb Huntley suffered a season-ending injury against New Orleans, cutting the Atlanta backfield from a three-way timeshare to what should be a fairly even split between Allgeier and Cordarrelle Patterson for the rest of the season.
The thunder to Cordarrelle’s lightning should receive double digit carries in each game from here on out, but does not see much work in the receiving game. Atlanta plays Baltimore and Arizona in the next two games.
The Baltimore defense has been clicking as of late and will be a scary matchup for Atlanta. Arizona has been boom-or-bust defensively but just let both Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack put together respectable fantasy lines on them a week ago.
Should I Pick Up Tyler Allgeier Off the Waiver Wire?
Allgeier and all Falcons alike should not be started in Week 16 against Baltimore. In Week 17, he can be considered a flex option although if you are banking on Allgeier at flex in the championship you may struggle to win your league.
The Colts have been an awful team to watch all season long, but they have much juicier matchups than Atlanta down the stretch. Prioritize both Zack Moss and Deon Jackson over Tyler Allgeier on the waiver wire this week. Allgeier is a great running back and should lead the Atlanta backfield in 2023, but he is a riskier play than either Colts running back in the last two weeks of the season.
