Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL draft, with the team using the No. 59 overall pick to take him.
After playing an important role on offense of the dominant LSU National Championship of 2019, Marshall struggled to get on the field and produce in his rookie season, prompting many to write him off as a bust after just one year.
Over Weeks 7 and 8, Marshall has started to show some of the potential that got him selected in the second round. Should fantasy managers be adding Marshall off of waivers ahead of Week 9? Let's dive in and take a look.

What Did Terrace Marshall Jr. Do In Week 8?
Marshall turned in the best outing of his 18-game NFL career in Week 8. The second-year pro caught four of his nine targets for 87 yards in an overtime loss to the Falcons. He also finished the contest with 92 air yards after notching 63 in Week 7.
Marshall set career highs in targets and yards while his four catches tied a career-best mark. He also set a new high by playing on 92.5% of his team's offensive snaps in the Week 8 loss.
Panthers WR Terrace Marshall reached several career highs v ATL on Sunday:

The Panthers appear ready to turn the No. 2 WR role over to Marshall as they look to begin rebuilding in earnest over the second half of the 2022 season, which makes him an interesting name on waivers this week.
Should I Add Terrace Marshall Jr. Off the Waiver Wire in Fantasy Football?
As mentioned above, the Panthers cleared up plenty of targets for Marshall when they traded Robbie Anderson and Christian McCaffrey away after Week 6. Here you can see Marshall's 4.45 speed and plenty of elusiveness after the catch on display against Atlanta.

Marshall's playing time has spiked since the trades, giving him increased potential for production moving forward. After playing on just 45.5% of his team's snaps in Week 6, Marshall has been on the field for 90% of the snaps over the past two games since McCaffrey and Anderson left town.
The former LSU Tiger has yet to post a spike week when it comes to fantasy scoring but the Carolina passing attack has looked much better with P.J. Walker and not Baker Mayfield under center. Marshall is fast enough to get downfield and Walker has shown the ability to connect on the deep ball, as is evidenced here on a Hail Mary to D.J. Moore.

Marshall should be rostered as either bench depth or a bye-week replacement in leagues of 12 teams and larger thanks to his newfound role in the Carolina offense. Marshall is worth placing a FAAB bid of 5-10% heading into a Week 9 slate that has six teams on bye.
