Atlanta Falcons tight end Jonnu Smith was the 100th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Smith had a productive college career, totaling 178 receptions for 2,001 yards and 18 touchdowns in four years at Florida International.
The former Golden Panther spent four years with the Titans. He had 114 receptions on 169 targets for 1,302 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns with Tennessee. Smith signed with the New England Patriots during the 2021 NFL offseason.
Unfortunately, he never lived up to his massive free-agency contract. The veteran tight end had only 55 receptions on 83 targets for 539 receiving yards and a touchdown in two years with the Patriots. New England traded him to the Falcons this offseason for a late-round draft pick.

Jonnu Smith Week 10 Waiver Wire Outlook
The veteran tight end had his best performance this year in Week 9. Smith totaled five receptions on six targets for 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. He was the TE6 in Week 9 heading into Monday Night Football, scoring 18.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
Should I Pickup Jonnu Smith in Week 10?
After being wasted in New England, Smith has become fantasy-relevant in Atlanta. The former Florida International star is the TE10 for the year, averaging 7.7 fantasy points per game. He has played a critical role for the Falcons. Smith had six targets inside the 20-yard line, two more than Kyle Pitts.
Fantasy players who need a tight end should consider adding the former Florida International star. He has played at least 50% of the snaps in every game this season. However, Smith has been inconsistent despite his full-time workload.
The veteran tight end has scored double-digit fantasy points in a third of the games this year, including last week. However, he has totaled fewer than 7.8 fantasy points in the other six games this season.
Instead, fantasy players who need a one-week bye-week replacement for Travis Kelce or Dallas Goedert should add Hunter Henry off the waiver wire. The veteran is available in nearly 80% of ESPN leagues. He is coming off a solid performance, scoring 11.9 fantasy points in Week 9.
More importantly, Henry faces the Indianapolis Colts this coming week. They have surrendered 11.7 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season, one of the highest averages in the NFL.
