San Francisco wide receiver Jauan Jennings, like in years past, has become a potentially good waiver pickup option due to injuries to his teammates.
Fellow 49ers WR Deebo Samuel Sr. was injured in Week 2, picking up a calf strain, and is slated to miss multiple weeks. This leaves Jennings as the 2nd WR on the depth chart in Samuel's absence.
Is Jennings a good waiver pickup option? Should Jennings be rostered in most leagues? Let's dive in.

Jauan Jennings Week 3 Waiver Wire Outlook
Jennings will certainly get more of a workload with Samuel out. Jennings already has seven receptions for 101 yards on the season and is thus set to smash his 2023 output of just 33 catches for 265 yards on the entire season. Jennings' role appeared to be growing even before Samuel's injury.

Jennings likely has been seeing an increased workload due to his playoff performance. Jennings played well against the Packers in the postseason, hauling in five catches for 61 yards, before following that up with four catches, 42 yards, and a touchdown in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

He also threw a touchdown to RB Christian McCaffrey, which may seem insignificant, but clutch plays earn the trust of the coaching staff.
Jennings is primed to step into the WR2 role, with his experience to lean on and the confidence of the coaching staff. Jennings appears to be carrying his momentum from last season into 2024 and now has the perfect opportunity to shine in one of the best offenses in the NFL.
Fellow WR Brandon Aiyuk hasn't been especially productive through two weeks, and if this continues, Jennings could see a significant bump in targets and receptions. While Aiyuk's poor play can likely be attributed to him missing significant practice time in the preseason, it takes time to shake off the rust.
Should I Pick up Jauan Jennings in Week 3?
In PPR leagues, Jennings should not be on the bench. He's had decent target volume through two weeks and is now expected to receive a nice bump. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan runs one of the most efficient offenses in the NFL, so Jennings' targets should be of high value.
Shanahan has no trouble scheming his receivers open, and Jennings should be a beneficiary of that. The 49ers drafted wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing, but Pearsall is set to miss at least two more games, and Cowing hasn't taken a snap on offense yet, so it's unlikely either will be a factor.
Add Jennings in your PPR leagues if he's available. He's a great FLEX option as long as Samuel continues to miss time due to his injury.
