What Did D'Onta Foreman Do Last Week?
Chicago Bears running back D'Onta Foreman had a strong showing in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints, carrying the football 20 times for 83 yards. It was the second time in the last three games that Foreman has finished with over 80 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, Roschon Johnson and Darrynton Evans combined for just three carries. Foreman has currently established himself as the No. 1 running back for the Bears. He played 59% of the team's offensive snaps while Johnson played 29% and Evans just 9%.
At first glance, it looks obvious that fantasy managers should add D'Onta Foreman off the waiver wire this week ahead of a meeting with his former team, the Carolina Panthers. Is it that simple, though?
D'Onta Foreman Waiver Wire Outlook for Week 10
Khalil Herbert is eligible to return from the Injured Reserve in Week 10. Before he suffered an ankle injury, Herbert was the No. 1 running back for the Chicago Bears. He had 272 rushing yards in the first five games of the season.
At the time, D'Onta Foreman wasn't in the picture. He was a healthy scratch at times and looked like the odd man out in this backfield. While he's surely played well enough to maintain a role once Herbert is back, there's no guarantee that Foreman will retain his current role.
Foreman could still be the lead back on Thursday as the Bears are on a short week, but Herbert's return, whenever it is, will eat into Foreman's touches. He's worth adding if he's still available just to see how the workload shakes out, but don't be surprised if you wind up cutting D'Onta Foreman from your fantasy teams in the coming weeks.
