Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White finished very strong to end the 2023 season but has quickly become one of the bigger disappointments in fantasy this season.
With fantasy managers heading into Week 4, some are considering dropping White due to his poor production to begin the 2024 season.
Let’s look at the move and assess what you should be doing if White is on your fantasy squad.
Zamir White remains rostered in many fantasy leagues, but his value quickly diminishes due to lackluster performances and an unfavorable situation with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Last week, White managed just 10 carries for 34 yards, and he has yet to score a touchdown or top 50 rushing yards in any game this season. Splitting time with Alexander Mattison further limits his upside, as neither back is seeing enough volume to make a significant impact.
Adding to the concern, the Raiders often find themselves trailing in games, leading to negative game scripts that force them to pass more than run. This pass-heavy approach reduces White’s opportunities on the ground and limits his fantasy production, especially since he hasn't been a factor in the passing game.
The coaching staff has been vocal on wanting to provide White with more opportunities, but when will that happen? Fantasy managers may still want to stash him, but his droppable status is approaching quickly unless his role or performance improves.
“I’m gonna keep pumping him up. Our goal is to get 20+ touches with him. That was the goal this week, didn’t happen. That’s gonna be the goal this week and every week while he’s the starting running back and I’m here.”
White is still worth stashing due to his position as the primary backup in the Raiders' offense, but his limited production and harmful game scripts make him a risky long-term hold.
Fantasy managers might want to consider looking for more reliable options, like adding Alexander Mattison, who also shares time but could offer better volume and opportunities due to his receiving upside.
Alternatively, trading for a low-end RB2 with more consistent touches and upside might be a smarter move for those looking to solidify their backfield depth and improve overall roster stability.
