Should I Drop Sam LaPorta in Fantasy Football?
LaPorta, the talented tight end for the Detroit Lions, has not been living up to the expectations set by his impressive rookie campaign last year. This season, he has struggled to stay consistent, currently sitting as TE17 in PPR leagues, averaging just 8.45 fantasy points per game.

Despite a solid offense around the Iowa product, including the strong performances of Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery, Jameson Williams, and Jahmyr Gibbs, LaPorta has failed to be a key fantasy contributor. In Week 12, he returned from injury and saw six targets. The 23-year-old finished with three catches for 19 yards. LaPorta’s fantasy output remains underwhelming.
If you wonder whether to bench or drop the tight end, the answer may lean toward dropping, particularly in shallow leagues. However, do not be surprised if LaPorta turns things around with one of his signature big games. The former Pro Bowler has shown the ability to produce when it counts, and dropping him could leave you without a better option.
Who Should I Pickup in Week 13 Fantasy Football?
If you are considering dropping LaPorta, the waiver wire offers a few potential alternatives at tight end. However, while some solid names are available, none have consistently stood out this season.

Players like Hunter Henry of the New England Patriots, Tucker Kraft of the Green Bay Packers, Zach Ertz of the Washington Commanders, and Cole Kmet of the Chicago Bears could offer some value.
Taysom Hill of the New Orleans Saints, who often finds himself in a hybrid role, is also an option if you are willing to take a risk on his versatility. Will Dissly of the Los Angeles Chargers could provide a decent floor, though his upside is limited.
If you are looking for a gamble, you might take a shot on one of these players, but LaPorta, with his potential for big games, may still be a better hold than many of the waiver wire options.
