Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford was an RB2 for fantasy players in 2023. Many had high hopes for him this year, with Nick Chubb starting the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
However, Ford has struggled. He is the RB39 for the year, averaging 8.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. The third-year pro has been dealing with a hamstring injury, missing the past two contests.
Is it time for fantasy players to drop Ford? Let’s dive into it.

Should I Drop Jerome Ford?
The veteran running back hasn’t played since Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Ford had only 11 rushing attempts for 61 yards and 7.8 fantasy points over his past two games. By comparison, he had 12 or more in two of his first four contests this season.
Ford is a popular drop candidate this week. Chubb is back and getting healthier by the day. More importantly, Ford’s role on offense is limited, with the star running back in the lineup. He has limited value outside of being Chubb’s handcuff. Therefore, fantasy players in deeper leagues can drop Ford.

Who Can I Add Off The Waiver Wire?
Unfortunately, there aren’t many appealing options on the waiver wire this week. However, fantasy players who don’t need a starter this week should add Isaac Guerendo off the waiver wire. Christian McCaffrey likely makes his season debut after the San Francisco 49ers Week 9 bye.
However, the superstar could suffer a setback over the next two weeks. Meanwhile, Jordan Mason has been playing through a nagging shoulder injury. The rookie was outstanding last week, totaling 85 rushing yards and 17.7 fantasy points against the Dallas Cowboys, averaging 6.1 yards per attempt. If McCaffrey and Mason can’t play following the bye week, Guerendo has top-10 upside against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
