Breece Hall: Unleashed.
It's the sequel to the highly acclaimed rookie season. Fans have been clamoring for a return to the world of Hall running rampant around and through defenders. After four weeks of NFL action, it finally debuted. Coach Robert Saleh announced that there weren't any more restrictions on Hall, who is ramping up work after an ACL tear. His 25 touches in Week 5 were nearly double his previous season high.
Hall's emergence also marks the decline of opportunities for Dalvin Cook. A presumptive one-two punch is now a solo show (at least in terms of production) and Cook's Pro Bowl career may be on its last leg.
What Did Dalvin Cook Do In Week 5?
Against Denver, the NFL's worst run defense (by a mile), Cook saw his lowest snap count of the season. For the most part, Hall's snaps have been rising as Cook's fall. Michael Carter is seeing consistent usage in third-down situations.
When the final whistle sounded, Cook had rushed just six times for 23 yards. On the season, the ex-Viking is the RB57, behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Emari Demercado, and Rico Dowdle. Even Tony Jones Jr., now on his third team since training camp, has more fantasy points than Cook.
Can I Drop Dalvin Cook in Fantasy Football?
It's time to cut ties and remember the good times. Dalvin Cook was a first-round pick in fantasy drafts for several seasons but Father Time remains undefeated. His yards per attempt is down to 2.7. That's 1.7 yards fewer than his previous career-low. The juice is gone.
Even if Hall were to fall with another injury (*knock on wood*), Carter's role remains, so Cook still won't be a full-time player. Fill out your roster with an insurance back that offers more upside, like Zach Charbonnet, Kendre Miller, Kenneth Gainwell, or Jeff Wilson Jr.
