Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and the entire Bears offense are off to a tough start to the 2024 season. The hype surrounding the rookie quarterback coming out of USC was considerable and Williams was drafted in most leagues as a high-end QB2.
However, Williams has failed to deliver. He hasn't even cracked double-digit fantasy points in either of his games played and hasn't passed for over 200 yards in a single game as of yet.
Williams also tossed two interceptions in Week 2 and has yet to throw or rush for a single touchdown. Is Williams safe to drop in fantasy football leagues? Let's dive in.

Should I Drop Caleb Williams in Fantasy Football?
You probably should. There are many QBs worth rostering over Williams, and he's little more than a waste of roster space at this point. Williams has shown little promise on a dysfunctional Bears offense, and he looks like he's not ready to be a productive NFL quarterback yet. There's not much rushing upside to mitigate this.

Williams was described in college as a player who tended to play off script, even when it wasn't necessary, and he's carried these tendencies with him to the NFL. In addition, he's not been very accurate, completing just 56.1% of his passes through two weeks. Williams has a lot of work to do to become fantasy-relevant.

Williams is a waste of roster space right now. He and the Bears have a ton of work to do to make him a good NFL QB. He's got all the talent, so it could happen at some point if he changes his playstyle and masters more of the mental aspects of the game, but for now, Williams will probably continue to struggle.
It's fair to question just how good offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and head coach Matt Eberflus are for Williams' development as well. The Bears remain a team built around the strengths of their defense at this point.
Who Should I Pickup in Week 3 Fantasy Football?
There are plenty of options at the quarterback position that may still be on waivers in 10-12 team leagues. New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr had a miserable 2023, so many leagues may still have him on waivers despite his great performance in Week 1. Carr is on fire and is worth adding to your roster in place of Williams.
Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold is another great choice. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell can be trusted to run an excellent offense, and Darnold has WR Justin Jefferson, arguably the best in the league, to throw it to.
Even Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson has more upside than Williams. Despite his poor play through 2023, Watson has some rushing upside, evidenced by his rushing touchdown in Week 2, and is on a better offense with a better coach in Kevin Stefanski. One of these three quarterbacks can be swapped with Williams instead.
