The 2023 regular season season is almost here. That means fantasy players have less than a month to complete all of their fantasy football drafts.
One of the toughest decisions fantasy players have to make every year is deciding between two similar options. Since fantasy players can’t possibly draft both guys, they must make the hard decision on which player to pick.
Today we look at whether fantasy players should draft Jordan Addison or Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Should I Draft Jordan Addison?
Addison was the 24th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and the fourth wide receiver selected. However, he has been a popular rookie draft target this offseason. Last year the former USC star had 59 receptions for 875 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games.
Meanwhile, Addison started his college career at Pittsburgh. He had 60 receptions for 666 receiving yards and four touchdowns his freshman year. More importantly, the young receiver had a breakout season in 2021, totaling 100 receptions for 1,593 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. Addison finished fourth in the country in receiving yards and first in receiving touchdowns.
The former USC and Pittsburgh star has been outstanding during training camp. Meanwhile, Addison showed off his excellent sideline awareness and ability during the team’s Week 1 preseason matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Addison is an eighth-round pick in 12-team leagues and the 38th wide receiver off the board.
Should I Draft Jaxon Smith-Njigba?
Unfortunately, Smith-Njigba struggled with injuries last year at Ohio State, playing in only three contests, totaling five receptions for 43 receiving yards. However, he was unstoppable the year before, totaling 95 receptions for 1,606 receiving yards and nine touchdowns despite sharing the field with Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Smith-Njigba is an eighth-round pick in 12-team leagues and the 35th wide receiver off the board.
The rookie was solid in the team’s Week 1 preseason matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Smith-Njigba caught three of his four targets for 25 receiving yards despite playing with the backup quarterback.
Who Should I Draft?
Both rookie wide receivers will have fantasy value this season. Unfortunately, neither will turn into a superstar. Addison will have to fight for targets with T.J. Hockenson behind Justin Jefferson. Meanwhile, Smith-Njigba will compete with D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett for targets.
While fantasy players should feel confident drafting both rookies as a WR3, Addison should get picked first. He has the clearest pathway to targets, as he will replace Adam Thielen and his 107 targets from last year.
