The 2023 regular season season is almost here. That means fantasy players have only a few weeks to complete all of their fantasy football drafts.
One of the toughest decisions fantasy players have to make every year is deciding between two similar options. Since fantasy players can’t possibly draft both guys, they must make the hard decision on which player to pick.
Today we look at whether fantasy players should draft Jahmyr Gibbs or Aaron Jones.

Should I Draft Jahmyr Gibbs?
The former Alabama star running back is a preseason draft darling. Gibbs had 151 rushing attempts for 926 yards and seven touchdowns in his lone season with the Crimson Tide. He also had 44 receptions for 444 receiving yards and three touchdowns last year, setting career highs in receptions and touchdowns.
According to the RotoBaller ADP, Gibbs is a late third-round or early fourth-round pick and the 12th running back off the board. The rookie has had an impressive training camp, making defenses frustrated with his elite abilities in the pass and run game.
More importantly, the former Alabama star is replacing D’Andre Swift in Detroit. Last year the veteran running back had 48 receptions on 70 targets in 14 games, finishing second on the team in both categories behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Should I Draft Aaron Jones?
The Green Bay Packers will have a different-looking offense this year compared to last season. Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard are in New York. Meanwhile, Jordan Love takes over as the starting quarterback. However, the one thing that will remain the same is Jones’ significant role on offense.
According to the RotoBaller ADP, the veteran is a mid-fourth-round pick and the 15th running back off the board. Last year Jones had 213 rushing attempts for 1,121 yards and two touchdowns.
Furthermore, he had the 10th most rushing yards in the NFL last season, setting a career-high. More importantly, the veteran was the RB9, averaging 12.9 half-point PPR fantasy points per game in 2022.
Who Should I Draft?
Fantasy players should be excited about having either running back as their RB2 this season. However, which running back should you draft? The answer comes down to what you want from the draft pick.
Gibbs has significant upside taking over for Swift in Detroit. If the rookie earns over 220 touches this season, he could be a top-five running back. Meanwhile, Jones lacks the same upside. However, fantasy players don’t have to worry about the veteran turning into a massive bust.
