The tight end position is the hardest to evaluate in fantasy drafts this season. After Travis Kelce -- who is consistently going in the first round -- there's a bunch of inconsistencies.
Mark Andrews is supposed to have a better season but now finds himself in a crowded group in Baltimore. T.J. Hockenson has a high floor with the Minnesota Vikings. But his ceiling isn't nearly as high. If you want to wait for a tight end, players like Dallas Goedert and Evan Engram could be solid picks.
So, should I draft Goedert or Engram? Let's take a closer look at this ADP duel.

Should I Draft Dallas Goedert?
Goedert gets overlooked in Philadelphia's offense sometimes. When you have players like Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith, the Eagles tight end doesn't get as much attention. However, he has been a consistent fantasy force since becoming a full-time starter in 2021.
Goedert finished as the TE12 in PPR formats last season while averaging 11.8 PPR fantasy points per game. His 11.8 average ranked fifth for tight ends behind Kelce, Andrews, Hockenson, and George Kittle. If the 28-year-old hadn't missed five games with a shoulder injury, he was on his way to a top-five tight end finish.

With the Eagles lacking a true WR3 behind Brown and Smith, Goedert fills in as the third option on offense. He had double-digit fantasy points in seven of 12 games and saw six-plus targets in eight games. He has a high floor on an elite offense in Philadelphia.
Should I Draft Evan Engram?
Engram was one of the biggest sleepers in the later rounds of fantasy drafts last season. After spending five seasons with the New York Giants, the former 2017 first-round pick found new success in his first year in Jacksonville. He totaled career highs in catches (73) and receiving yards (766).
That helped Engram finish as the TE5 in PPR formats in 2022. He averaged 10.4 PPR points per game and provided some consistency at the tight end position. The 28-year-old had eight double-digit performances, including a TE1 finish in Week 14 (39.2 PPR fantasy points).
Were gonna see this ALOT this season in Duval. The two days I was at camp Trevor hit Evan Engram early and often.

Engram should be in store for another solid year in Jacksonville, building on his 2022 campaign. But the addition of Calvin Ridley could hurt his upside this season since he could be the third or fourth option for Trevor Lawrence in the passing game.
Who Should I Draft?
Goedert and Engram are usually the seventh and eighth tight ends off the board in fantasy drafts this season. Both players are solid options in the middle rounds, especially if you don't get Kelce, Andrews, or Hockenson early on.
Both players averaged over 10 PPR fantasy points per game in 2022, and they should score in double figures again this season. Of the two tight ends, though, Goedert is the better pick. He was on pace to finish above Engram last year if he didn't miss five games.
The Eagles tight end also has a higher ceiling and safer floor in 2023. Don't forget, Engram had six games under five PPR fantasy points last season. Goedert had just one such game.
