Chase Brown and Zamir White have both been touted as breakout candidates in 2023. Both made big plays in 2023 and secured roles in their offenses.
They had different paths to being featured in this article, and drafting one over the other could make a big difference for your fantasy team in 2024.
Let's dive into how these two running backs differ and how you can leverage these differences to make the correct draft decision for your team.

What is the Bengals' RB Situation in 2024?
The Bengals have indicated repeatedly this offseason that their backfield projects to be a committee. Zack Moss and Chase Brown should both leverage their strengths and be used in whatever situation the coaches feel appropriate. The Bengals moved on from Joe Mixon and brought in competition for Brown, indicating that Brown likely won't take over a bellcow role (at least to start the season).
Despite this, Brown has tantalizing upside, reaching over 22 mph on a monster catch against the Colts last year.

Brown showed off his blazing speed. The importance of that speed cannot be understated for fantasy football. Being able to hit home runs allows for double-digit scoring on a single play and possible game-winning performances. Brown showed his effectiveness in the passing game and that he can make big plays even when not taking handoffs.
What is the Raiders' RB Situation in 2024?
Zamir White finished last season strong with multiple double-digit fantasy points in his last few games. He filled in for Josh Jacobs nicely, handling a huge workload and producing with reasonable efficiency. However, the Raiders showed they likely didn't see Zamir as a bellcow RB in 2024, signing Alexander Mattison and drafting Dylan Laube to add new dimensions to their running back room.

It's very important to note that both Ameer Abdullah and Laube are accomplished pass-catching RBs in their careers to this point, and it's likely that one or both of them will fill in for Zamir on obvious passing downs. Raiders beat writers have been indicating that Laube could handle a third-down role and that's likely why he was drafted. Zamir probably needs a bellcow role to make an impact, and his value is hurt more by not catching passes. In addition, the Raiders have a worse offense than the Bengals.
Should I draft Chase Brown or Zamir White?
A look at the ADPs makes the answer to this question quite obvious. Zamir White sits at an ADP of 71, 34 spots higher than Chase Brown (ADP of 105). Brown is likely to get more passing game work, and with White potentially also losing third down plays to the other Raiders' RBs, Chase Brown becomes the obvious choice. In the absence of bellcow roles for both, Brown presents much better value, and you should prefer to draft him to your fantasy teams in 2024.
