Needless to say, future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not have the storybook season he was hoping for in his first year with the New York Jets. The four-time MVP played just four offensive snaps for his new organization before sitting out the rest of the season with a torn Achilles.
It was difficult to project Rodgers' fantasy football value in 2023 before the injury, and it's extra challenging for 2024. The team improved his surrounding cast, but he will turn 41 years old late in the year, and his major lower-body injury could mightily affect his ability to create plays outside of the pocket.

Aaron Rodgers Injury Update
Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Rodgers (Achilles) will be good to go when Phase 3 of the offseason begins in two weeks, which consists of 10 organized team activity practices. "Once phase three hits," Saleh said. "We're not anticipating any restrictions from what we can and can't do with him."

This is obviously great news for his early-season production, and barring any setbacks, he'll be available for Week 1.
Aaron Rodgers 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
This offseason, the Jets upgraded its offensive line room with Tyron Smith, John Simpson, Morgan Moses, and first-round pick Olu Fashanu. At wide receiver, Mike Williams and third-round rookie Malachi Corley should both be viewed as upgrades to Allen Lazard and Xavier Gipson. Additionally, running back Breece Hall will be one more year removed from a torn ACL he suffered in 2022, and the team added rookies Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis for extra backfield depth.
All of a sudden, Rodgers has a solid supporting cast, but fantasy managers should temper expectations. In his last full season (2021), he finished as the overall QB13 with a measly 14.8 fantasy points per game behind 3,695 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He'll enter the 2024 campaign two years older and could be less effective as a playmaker following his major surgery and rehab from a torn Achilles.
In all likelihood, his days of posting QB1 numbers are over, and it's tough to envision a scenario where he's an every-week starter in single-QB formats. In early FFPC best ball drafts, he's being selected as the 20th signal-caller off the board. He's projected as a decent backup option and QB2 in superflex leagues, but he carries more risk than ever in his 20th NFL season. It's important to remember Rodgers can play well in "real life" while failing to make a strong fantasy impact.
