BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 13% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Seattle Mariners second baseman/outfielder Shed Long Jr. is showing some early signs of being a potential difference-maker in stolen bases. Through 14 games this year, he had recorded three stolen bases without being caught once. Last year, he tallied just three stolen bases over 42 games while being caught stealing three times.
Long began the year as the Mariners' primary leadoff hitter, but after five games, he was hitting just .150, so manager Scott Servais moved him down in the order and the effect has certainly been positive so far. Long went on to go 9-for-32 in his next nine games.
Stolen bases are certainly the best asset Long is likely to offer. However, he has some power potential. He hit double-digit home runs in each of his last three full minor league seasons. He should also hit for a decent batting average once it's all said and done. He typically hovered around .275 during his minor league career.
Add him if you need outfield depth and especially if you need some stolen base help in leagues of 12 teams or deeper. In more shallow leagues, he can be left on waivers.
