BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 47% of Yahoo! Leagues
ANALYSIS: After trading closer Justin Wilson, the Tigers turned to former starter Shane Greene to take over ninth inning duties. While the Tigers have not played particularly well in the month of August, Greene has done his part by earning four saves and a win across nine innings. He has a 10:3 K:BB ratio in that time and has given up three runs. Greene has twice earned five-out saves, giving fantasy owners a small boost in ERA and WHIP as well.
The Tigers are out of contention and therefore Greene may not have as many save opportunities as some of his peers, but his job security is pretty set and his performance over the last month has vaulted him into must-own territory. If Greene is still available in your league, he represents a solid closing option going forward. Bruce Rondon and Joe Jimenez are younger flamethrowers, but control issues and lack of experience will likely keep them from supplanting Greene anytime soon.
