BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 57% of leagues
ANALYSIS: If the men who play the actual sport cared even the slightest bit what any of us thought, fantasy baseball would be a rather cruel game. One minute, everyone's touting you as the next best thing and blowing all their FAAB to acquire your services. The next, you're being cut en masse. So it goes. The latest example of this roller-coaster ride is Scott Kingery. Fantasy owners rushed to add him (if they hadn't already done so in their drafts) after hearing the news that he'd signed a six-year deal and would break camp with the Phillies. Some overly excited folks floated the possibility of a 30/30 season for the rookie, a feat that no MLB player has accomplished in any of the previous five seasons.
Through April 15, Kingery had hit .280/.315/.540 with two home runs and two stolen bases, lending credence to the hype. Unfortunately, since that point he's managed only two hits in 30 plate appearances, striking out 13 times and generally looking overmatched at the plate. The real Kingery lies somewhere in between, and likely closer to the good version than the bad. If a rival in your league has panicked and cut bait, you should seriously consider making the move for him.
