After playing on the franchise tag last year, running back Saquon Barkley entered free agency for the first time in 2024. Barkley was the most-coveted back on the open market this year, and the expectation was that he would find a team that would pay him what he was worth.
In less than two hours of the tampering period opening, Barkley found a new home. He signed a multi-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
How many years is Barkley's deal? How much did he get paid? What does his move to Philadelphia do for his fantasy value? Let's dive in and find out.

Saquon Barkley Signing Details
The Eagles did not wait very long to make a move at Barkley this offseason. Earlier in the day, D'Andre Swift signed with the Chicago Bears, leaving Philadelphia without a certified RB1. That was until they agreed to a new deal with the former Giants running back.
Barkley and the Eagles agreed to a three-year, $37.75 million deal that could wind up paying him up to $46.75 million. The running back's new $15.6 million per year contract is the second-most all-time at the position, only behind Christian McCaffrey's $16 million annually. He is also guaranteed $26 million at signing.

It was expected that Barkley would garner plenty of interest on the free agent market, and teams like the Eagles and Texans were among the finalists to sign him. However, in the end, Philadelphia's offer was too hard to pass on.
Saquon Barkley 2024 Fantasy Outlook
Barkley's landing spot in Philadelphia couldn't have been better for his fantasy value. He arguably goes from one of the worst offensive lines with the Giants to one of the best. That should immediately boost his fantasy value in 2024 and beyond.
Last year, Philadelphia ran the ball at the seventh-highest mark (45.1%), and that number could even improve this upcoming season. Barkley will also run behind an offensive line that ranked first in run block win rate. Lane Johnson (82%), Landon Dickerson (81%), and Jordan Mailata (80%) ranked first, second, and third in that category in 2023.

With Barkley now in Philadelphia, expect his average draft position (ADP) to rise in drafts next year. He should be an easy first-round pick running behind one of the best offensive lines in football.
