BALLER MOVE: Start in 10+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB2
ANALYSIS: New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has been a fantasy star this season despite playing on a dysfunctional offense. He is the RB16 for the year, averaging 14.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. The superstar missed three games earlier in the season with a high ankle sprain. Yet, Barkley has remained a top-20 running back.
Last week, the former Penn State star had 80 rushing yards, a touchdown, and 17.9 fantasy points in the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. While he had a solid fantasy performance, Barkley’s wallet is a little lighter after receiving a questionable fine from last week’s game.
Fantasy players likely feel the running back is a must-start option every week. While he has been outstanding this year, fantasy players might want to sit Barkley for the fantasy football championship matchup.
Barkley faces a Los Angeles Rams defense that has shut down opposing running backs. They have surrendered only 14.6 fantasy points per game this season, the second-fewest in the NFL. The Rams haven’t given up a rushing touchdown to a running back since Week 9.
While sitting Barkley might be difficult, fantasy players should consider it. While the RotoBaller rankings say the running back is a solid option this week, I would rather avoid starting him.
