Samaje Perine (RB, CIN) - Week 17 Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: There was plenty of food at Cincinnati's table this past Sunday for both RBs Gio Bernard and Samaje Perine to fill their bellies. Even though the former out-carried Perine 16 to 13, it was the latter who racked up the most fantasy points and rushing yards on the day, with Gio putting up better pass-catching numbers.

It was amazing to watch two rushers reach at least 20 PPR points each for the Bengals this past weekend. Bernard closed the game with 20.1 points to the tune of 16 carries for 65 yards while catching 7-of-8 targets for 66 receiving yards. Perine finished with 95 rushing yards on 13 carries for two touchdowns, catching all four of his targets for 41 yards against Houston.

This was the second game through W16 in which Perine played in more than 28 offensive snaps, having done so just once in Week 11 prior to this weekend. On a much heavier volume, Perine delivered and played to top-12 RB levels. If that will hold for another week or not is hard to know, as Bernard out-carried Perine (although he was less efficient running) and got targeted twice as many times.

If Perine commands 10+ carries and 4+ targets next weekend and scores another touchdown, that's already a great baseline for around 12+ PPR points in which profiles as an average matchup against Baltimore (top-12 defense against fantasy RBs). Not the soundest of plays for those in shallow leagues, obviously, but a good "what-the-heck" flier for those needy in deeper formats.
