BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Two-Quarterback Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB2
ANALYSIS: No team in the NFL is throwing the football as much as the Washington Commanders, who average an NFL-high 40.2 pass attempts per game. That's translated into some big numbers for quarterback Sam Howell, who currently leads the NFL in completions, attempts, and passing yards. He's thrown for 3,038 yards through 11 games.
The flip side of this? Howell also has thrown 12 interceptions, the most in the NFL this season. That's significantly lowered his fantasy floor and has kept Howell from being a reliable fantasy QB1 option. He's coming off a game last week where he threw three interceptions in a loss to the Giants, for example. He's only had four games all year without an interception.
On Thursday, Howell and the Commanders face the Cowboys. Dallas has allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this year and is tied for the fourth-most passes intercepted. That's bad news for Howell.
This week, fantasy managers should consider Howell to be a mid-tier QB2 play. His volume keeps his floor relatively high, but the turnovers are a serious concern, especially against a defense as good as this Cowboys one.
