ANALYSIS: Oakland 3B Ryon Healy was heavily targeted as a sleeper heading into 2017. His slow start has soured many impatient fantasy owners, but Healy has started to look more like that potential breakout candidate over the last few weeks. He has raised his batting average up to a respectable .265 thanks to a .296/.321/.519 line over his last seven games and a .294 mark in the last 30 days, with six of his nine home runs and 14 of his 24 RBI coming in that stretch as well.
Healy has started to see his power return to his 2016 levels, which was bound to happen considering he has a similar HR/FB rate as last season (16% last year, 14.5% this year) and has hit the ball harder this year (37.2% hard contact, compared to 30% last year). He has also sprayed the ball around to all fields more in 2017, and the results have started to come around.
Healy has yet to develop his plate discipline, only drawing walks at a 4% clip and striking out at a 26% rate. He is also very split heavy, he's mashed left-handed pitching this season (.383/.408/.681 in 47 at-bats) yet only hits .229 off right-handers. Likewise, he is a .314 hitter at home but only .228 on the road. However, his recent performance and power potential make him ownable in 12-team formats and beyond.
