BALLER MOVE: Consider in all leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: It's the fantasy playoffs and Russell Wilson is considered a QB1. No, this is not 2020.
The truth is, despite another rocky start to the 2023 season in Denver, Wilson has been a respectable fantasy football quarterback for most of the campaign. Through all of the bye weeks, the former Seahawk is the QB14 overall.
He's also riding five straight games of at least 14.5 fantasy points. He's providing a safe floor for managers in a pinch at the position. With wide receiver Courtland Sutton scoring in all but three games this year, Wilson has a bonafide WR1 and outstanding red zone threat.
The ceiling is being raised, however, in Week 15. The Broncos are traveling to Detroit for a Saturday night clash. It's a tremendous matchup for Wilson and the passing game. The Lions surrendered the fifth-most fantasy points to the position on the season and fourth-most in the last four weeks. Their run defense is still among the league's elite, so Denver will need to put the ball in the air to score points.
One potential downside is the Denver run defense. They allow the most rushing yards to running backs this season. With Jared Goff struggling with turnovers and protection, Dan Campbell could opt to lean on his running back tandem of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs to thrust his offense back into gear. If that's the case, Detroit could control the game clock and keep Wilson off of the field.
