ANALYSIS: Rueben Randle may still not have been 100% with his hamstring going into Week 7, though he should be darn close. He continues to average about six targets per game, and unfortunately he could only turn two of those into receptions in the Week 7 game against Dallas. It should be noted that one of them was a really nice one handed catch though. The talent is clearly there, it’s just the inconsistency that tanks his potential. The Giants will continue to rely on him with Victor Cruz out indefinitely after receiving a PRP injection in his knee.
Randle hasn’t scored since Week 4, but the Giants’ past two games haven’t been very reliable indicators to judge the offense on. They were shellacked in Week 6 against Philadelphia, and while they won with 27 points this past Sunday against the Cowboys, the majority of the points came through the defense and special teams. The next three weeks are against the Saints, Buccaneers, and Patriots before the Giants’ Week 11 bye. Randle is not going to see a shutdown corner in any of those contests, and even if Cruz comes back at some point in there (which isn’t a given by any means, and in fact seems improbable), Randle will still see plenty of targets, especially towards the red zone when they need a guy with size.
