In this ranking, we will rank the top 15 greatest players in Philadelphia Eagles team history. We will look at several factors, such as games played, statistics, Pro Bowls, All-Pros, and Super Bowls. Let’s dive in.
No. 15: Troy Vincent, DB
Troy Vincent spent eight years of his 15-year NFL career with Philadelphia. Vincent tallied 428 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 28 interceptions during his time as an Eagle. He was named to five Pro Bowls, one second-team All-Pro roster, and one first-team All-Pro roster. Vincent was a key part of the Philadelphia secondaries during the early 2000s and even led the league in pass deflections in 2001.
No. 14: Trent Cole, DE
Trent Cole spent all but his final two professional seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. During his 10 years in Philadelphia, Cole tallied 85.5 sacks, which puts him in second place in franchise history, only behind Hall of Famer Reggie White. Cole was named to two Pro Bowls and made one second-team All-Pro roster in 2009. He tallied double-digit sacks in four seasons and only missed four games as an Eagle.
No. 13: LeSean McCoy, RB
LeSean McCoy holds the franchise record in rushing yards with 6,792. He also tallied the third-most rushing TDs in franchise history (44,) only trailing Wilbert Montgomery by one and Steve Van Buren by 15. However, McCoy played in 10 fewer games with the team. As an Eagle, McCoy was named to two first-team All-Pro rosters and led the league in rushing in 2013 with 1,607 yards.
No. 12: Fletcher Cox, DT
One of the few current-day players on this is Fletch Cox. The Mississippi State product has spent his entire 12-year NFL career in Philadelphia. Across 188 games, Cox has tallied the eighth most tackles as an interior lineman and the second-most assists. He also logged the third-most sacks (463). He has been named to six Pro Bowls. Cox was a critical part of their 2017 Super Bowl (LII) victory over the New England Patriots and will look to win his second Lombardi Trophy on Sunday evening.
No. 11: Brandon Graham, LB
Brandon Graham currently sits at the No. 5 spot in total tackles (359) in team history. Graham has also tallied the third-most sacks in team history, behind only Reggie White and Trent Cole. Like Fletcher Cox, Graham played a pivotal role in their 2017 Super Bowl (LII) victory over the New England Patriots. In the final quarter, Graham’s strip-sack on Tom Brady sealed the victory. Throughout his Eagles career, Graham has been named to one first-team All-Pro team and one Pro Bowl.
No. 10: Steve Van Buren, RB
The Hall of Fame running back spent his entire eight-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles. Across 83 games, Van Buren set the franchise record in rushing TDs (69), which still stands today. Van Buren won two NFL Championships and was named to five first-team All-Pro rosters. He was named to the 1940s Hall of Fame roster.
No. 9: Lane Johnson, OT
Lane Johnson has been the longstanding right tackle on the Philadelphia offensive line since being drafted in 2013 out of Oklahoma. Jonhons was immediately given a role in the offense as he started all 16 games as a rookie. Since 2017, Johnson has made the Pro Bowl in six of his past eight seasons. During this span, he has been named to two first-team All-Pro rosters and three second-team All-Pro rosters.
No. 8: Jason Peters, OT
Even though he began his career as a Buffalo Bill, Jason Peters will do down as one of the greatest Philadelphia Eagles of all time. Since joining the team in 2009, Peters was the starting left tackle until 2020. He only missed one season (2012) due to an Achilles injury. While in Philadelphia, Peters won a Super Bowl, was named to seven Pro Bowls, and two first-team All-Pros.
No. 7: Randall Cunningham, QB
Randal Cunningham narrowly edges out Ron Jaworski for the No. 2 QB spot in team history. Cunningham was one of the first pure dual-threat QBs in league history. During his 11-year tenure in Philadelphia, Cunningham tallied 22,877 passing yards with 4,482 yards. He tallied 182 total TDs. In addition, his INT rate of 3.1 percent was almost one whole point lower than Jaworski’s.
No. 6: Harold Carmichael, WR
Harold Carmichael stands alone when looking at Philadelphia pass catchers. Carmichael found the back of the end zone 79 times and caught 589 receptions for 8,978 yards. He led the league in receiving yards during the 1973 season with 1,116 yards. During his time in Philadelphia, he was nominated to four Pro Bowls and one second-team All-Pro roster.
No. 5: Donavan McNabb, QB
Donavan McNabb holds all the franchise records when looking at passing statistics. Across 11 years as an Eagle, McNabb tallied 32,873 passing yards with 216 TDs. He averaged an impressive 221.1 passing yards per game and a strong 2.1 percent interception rate. He was named to six Pro Bowls. From 2000 through 2004, McNabb was named to five straight Pro Bowls.
No. 4: Chuck Bednarik, LB/C
The Hall of Famer played both sides of the ball during most years of his career. Bednarik spent his entire 14-year NFL tenure with the Eagles and was named to eight Pro Bowls and six first-team All-Pros. He was a two-time NFL Champion and was named to the Hall of Fame 1950s roster.
No. 3: Jason Kelce, C
Jason Kelce was the starting center in Philadelphia for over the past decade. During his 13-year tenure with the Eagles, he only logged less than 13 starts in all but two seasons. He played in all 16 (or 17) games in 11 of his 13 seasons. During his time as an Eagle, he won Super Bowl LII, was named to seven Pro Bowls, and an incredible six first-team All-Pro rosters.
No. 2: Brian Dawkins, S
“Weapon X” was the best defensive back in Eagles history. He spent his first 13 years in the City of Brotherly Love. During his time there, he tallied the most tackles in team history (451) and second-most interceptions (18). He was named to seven Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pros. He was eventually nominated into the Hall of Fame and was also named to the 2000s Hall of Fame roster.
No. 1: Reggie White, DE
Undoubtedly, “The Minister of Defense” is the greatest player in Philadelphia Eagles history. Reggie White spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Eagles. Across 121 games, White tallied 124 sacks (franchise record). During these eight seasons, the Hall of Famer was named first-team All-Pro in six and was nominated to the Pro Bowl in seven. White went on to finish his career with Green Bay, where he would eventually tally the second-most sacks in league history, behind only Bruce Smith.
