One and Done Selections - The Valero Texas Open
In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Joe Idone, Matt Miller, Byron Lindeque, and our special guest will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!
Joe Nicely - Ludvig Aberg
Alternate -
The budding superstar is on the cusp of his first career major championship start next week at
the Masters. However, Aberg is young enough - and perhaps naive enough - to be focused on
the task at hand this week in San Antonio. The 24-year-old comes in off the best ball-striking
performance of his career at THE PLAYERS.
A product of Texas Tech, he's very familiar with the Texas winds that will blow this week, and a sponsor's exemption into this event while he was still an amateur means he's seen this golf course before - which is not something the youngster can say about many stops on the Tour schedule. He's perhaps the best overall driver of the ball the sport has seen since Rory McIlroy and this layout is tailor-made for him.

Joe Idone - Ludvig Aberg

Spencer Aguiar - Matthew Fitzpatrick
Alternate - Tommy Fleetwood
Matthew Fitzpatrick ranked second in my model when combining harder par-four and five holes into one grade, behind only the favorite Rory McIlroy.
It also placed him as one of only five golfers to rank within the top 20 of this field for individual scoring on par three, four, and five holes when re-modeling the data to fit TPC San Antonio.
The extra weight being used in Fitzpatrick's driver caused a slow start to the year, but I expect his pure aggression totals to be unleashed as the weight of the world has been removed from his swing.
I do believe Fleetwood is a very close second for those trying to go even more contrarian than this answer.

Matt Miller - Brian Harman

Byron Lindeque - Brian Harman
It’s got to that time of the season where I have no missed submitting two of my last three OADs. It also really doesn’t matter because I only won $142k in those 4 weeks anyway. So after getting off to a warm start we are back to struggling, as I am last in the RotoBaller OAD and I am not okay with that.
When you are having troubles collecting debt and OAD winnings, you send the muscle. You send the guy you know isn’t going to leave without collecting. You send in Brian Harman! He missed the cut at the Valspar after a T2 at the Players. His irons are hotter than Paris Hilton in the 2000s and a short game that can hold its own against his current approach play. Harman in Texas the week before the Masters! Lets ride!
Yearly Earnings - $1,556,189
Yearly Cuts Made - 9/12
Mia The Model - Alex Noren
Alternate - Billy Horschel
Byron T20
TeeOff T20
