One and Done Selections - The John Deere Classic
In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Andrew Putters, Josh Bennett, Byron Lindeque and our special guest will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!
Joe Nicely - Russell Henley
Alternate - Denny McCarthy
It speaks volumes to how my OAD season has gone when my win with Rickie Fowler last week was my first one of the year…
Now that we’re off the struggle bus, we might as well keep the good times rolling for the John Deere Classic, a longstanding event that always seems to go under the radar. I’m going to deploy the same strategy I used last week, which is to simply go with the best available player. For me this week that’s Russell Henley.
Listen, I'm all for getting frisky and thinking outside the box. That said, there’s no need to get cute here, as Russell Henley sticks out like a sore thumb on this slate due to his recent form and course history. He’s logged top-20 finishes in seven of his last eight starts on the PGA Tour thanks to consistently-elite ball striking, while he’s been superb in his last two trips to TPC Deere Run, scoring a T11 and a runner-up finish in recent John Deere Classic appearances.
Yearly Earnings - $6,694,072
Yearly Cuts Made - 22/24
Josh Bennett - Eric Cole
Alternate - Adam Schenk
Yearly Earnings -$7,430,761
Yearly Cuts Made - 20/24

Spencer Aguiar - Adam Hadwin
Alternate - Seamus Power
It was fitting that I didn't play Rickie Fowler last week to avoid taking the most popular selection on the board, resulting in him winning the contest. That is how this season has gone from week one, and it has continued into this week, with Mia picking Seamus Power when I was going to go that route. I assume that means he is winning now, but instead of duplicating a pick when I am $100,003,203,022 down, I will pivot to Adam Hadwin and hope his upside shines in my model.
The Canadian ranked first in my sheet for projected strokes gained total at this track, providing one of the better combinations of safety and upside that we will get in the field.
Yearly Earnings - $4,963,131
Yearly Cuts Made - 14/24
Byron Lindeque - Chez Reavie
The “Lets Go Brandon!” sign off in last week’s OAD writeup can now be rephrased as “Brandon Let Go”, missing the cut in a non-elevated event for the first time since the Valspar. It is also only our second missed cut of the season, which is not terrible.
The John Deere Classic is going to be a cluster of chaos, which will be an opportunity to embrace that in the dangerous OAD streets, where Rickie Fowlers, Keegan Bradleys and Wyndham Clarks are jumping out of alleyways with very little interest in anything other than a win.
Chez Reavie puts the “Ch” in Chaos, which is the state his putter was in last week, losing two strokes on the greens. This is not typical for what we have come to expect from Reavie, who has averaged +0.8 putting per round since the Valero. Would you believe me if I told you Chez led the field in approach last week? Well, he did, and as one of the better putters in the last 24 rounds, if those two areas of his game sync up, we are going to have a fully fledged, 5-foot-9 birdie machine running rogue in Silvis, Illinois.
Let’s win that cheddar, Chez!
Yearly Earnings - $9,187,801
Yearly Cuts Made - 21/24
Mia The Model - Seamus Power
Alternate - Adam Hadwin
Byron T20
TeeOff T20

Aggregated Results
One of the significant differences you will notice is that I attached the aforementioned percent weight to each player when I randomized the list for the week. That means an option like Eric Cole got rewarded for being a better option for our models (which we see with his 20% chance) all the way down to the bottom of our board in Adam Schenk taking up 5% of the pie.
We agreed on randomizing the list five times to settle on the name, and Mia has decided she wants to roll with Seamus Power this week as the selection and Adam Hadwin as the alternate.
Let us know what you think of her chances this week!
Yearly Earnings - $10,633,198
