One and Done Selections - Byron Nelson
Joe Nicely - Scottie Scheffler
Alternate - Marc Leishman
My “deploy the big guns every week strategy” almost backfired in a big way at the Wells Fargo,
but Bryson DeChambeau overcame a plane ride home to post a solid T9. It was yet another
strong outing for one of my picks, but while top-fives and top-10s are nice, I need to get some
wins on the board to get back into this contest. Hence my need to fire with everything I have
each week.
As we head to a new golf course in TPC Craig Ranch for the AT&T Byron Nelson, I’m really
kicking myself that I used Bryson DeChambeau last week, as I believe this layout is perfectly
suited for his game. Unfortunately, Dallas-native Will Zalatoris is also off the board for me
already. That leaves me in a position to fire up another big hitter with Texas ties, Scottie
Scheffler. The former University of Texas Longhorn is extremely familiar with TPC Craig Ranch
and appears to be a nice fit. Scheffler has the firepower to take advantage of the layout’s four
Par-5s and the all-around game to manage the long Par-4s. It feels like a nice spot for the rising
star that’s searching for his first PGA Tour win, just as I’m searching for my first OAD win.
Hopefully we can find the winner’s circle together this week.

Spencer Aguiar - Scottie Scheffler
Alternate - Matthew Fitzpatrick
I am putting on a masterclass performance on what not to do with a lead. Three missed cuts in four weeks and a $14,000-dollar dud from Charley Hoffman shouldn't exactly be considered a positive EV outcome, but I will go back to the drawing board and focus on safety above all else.
Suppose you are in a contest where you need to play catch-up. In that case, I do believe there are better paths present than taking the extremely chalky selection that will be Scottie Scheffler, but I am going to keep things close to the vest and try to make someone hit a winner against me for the sake of the RotoBaller game.
Players that are looking for more aggressive routes might want to consider selections like Matthew Fitzpatrick, Brooks Koepka, Carlos Ortiz or Sergio Garcia, but I feel comfortable deploying Scheffler as my OAD here, especially when I don't have a ton of places I am eagerly looking to roll out the 24-year-old.

Josh Bennett - Bryson DeChambeau
Alternate - Thomas Pieters
This is a "don't overthink it" week if I've ever seen one! The field strength significantly drops off after the first handful of guys so I'm sticking in that small group of players for sure. Bryson is in that group and he fits this course perfectly. Length off the tee will likely be important and he can spray it around if it happens too. Long approaches will also be common, another thing he's great at. I also like his chances on a course that is new for many with his in-depth analysis and studying, he'll be more prepared than anyone else in the field. It would be surprising if he finished outside of the top 5 this week.

Andrew Putters - Scottie Scheffler
Alternate - Thomas Pieters
He’s leading the tour in birdies per round, he’s a Texas guy, and he’s familiar with the course. Scottie is one of the best players off the tee on tour. This is a big bonus when playing the TPC this week. To be competitive on this course, players will need to put themselves in a good starting position. Par 5 scoring will be a bonus for Scottie. He has not let us down before on big courses and I do not see it starting this week. Dallas, your boy is ready.
