Here at RotoBaller, we are always searching for ways to give our readers the best fantasy sports content possible. With that goal in mind, we are very proud of our weekly PGA “One and Done” column. In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar and Josh Bennett will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!
None of us were able to set the world on fire last week at the ZOZO, as my selection, Tyrrell Hatton, led the way with a T28 that was good for just over $50k. With just a few events left in our OAD contest, my lead on Spencer and Josh feels "safe", but I'm not letting off the gas, as I lost at the buzzer last year in the TOUR Championship. We're certainly not overwhelmed with great options in this week's Bermuda Championship...an event that was an opposite-field event last year and brings the same type of entrants this year. Let's see who the guys are rolling with this week!

One and Done Selections - Bermuda Championship
Joe Nicely - Peter Malnati
Alternate - HV3
I somehow have already used both Will Zalatoris and Doc Redman in this "neverending OAD" of ours. It's tempting to "run out the clock" on Spencer and Josh with a guy like Henrik Stenson or Denny McCarthy, but I got this lead by being aggressive, so I'm gonna stay that way until this contest ends (it is gonna end right?).
My hometown is a little town just outside of the Great Smoky Mountains and since Spencer picked his fellow UNLV alum Charley Hoffman a few weeks ago, I'm gonna keep the home cookin' going here with Peter Malnati, a player that played his high school golf just a stone's throw away from me.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a purely sentimental selection. I feel that Malnati has a great chance to contend for the title in Bermuda. He's coming off his hottest stretch of golf in years - a runner-up finish at the Sanderson and a T5 at the Shriners - and it's seriously a shame that he hasn't been able to tee it up over the last couple of weeks. I think he'll hang on to his form in spite of the break and his supernatural putting ability on Bermuda will be on full display in...Bermuda.

Spencer Aguiar - Will Zalatoris
Alternate - Justin Suh
It is funny because this OAD has become the same issue for me every single week. With us playing a three-person contest, I keep going for the safer option of the two golfers I am between, and it has just not worked ever. My more volatile selection will come inside the top-five, and my eventual pick will sputter to something less than ideal. Unfortunately, I can't seem to break that mindset, but I am hoping it allows Justin Suh to capture his first victory on tour. That will be worth a lot more to me financially than a paycheck in this contest, and I am willing to try and gain any luck I can for that occurrence to take place. Oh, gamblers and their superstitions... now let me find my lucky rabbit's foot to rub as I finish writing about why Will Zalatoris is the safest choice in this field.
All jokes aside, it is excruciatingly close between Suh and Zalatoris. Historically, these haven't been the spots where I have chosen correctly, and it is why I am in the situation I am with three events to go. I honestly don't have much to separate the two golfers, as both rank inside the top-five for me in strokes gained approach, strokes gained total, par-five average and a slew of additional categories that I add my own weights to weekly.
At the end of the day, Zalatoris provides me the safer path to earn a payday, and I can't walk out of the week without a top-10 showing. I probably need a victory to boot if I want any chance in the final two weeks, and it does seem to make better logical sense to go with the betting favorite when I am the only person that has him at his disposal. For what it is worth, the last time I muttered those words was when I took Sungjae Im at the Sanderson Farms, even though I had already selected him earlier in the season, so who is to say that I am not bending the rules again with a little persuasive talk?

Josh Bennett - Charley Hoffman
Alternate - Harold Varner III
Is this thing over yet? I think I’m just playing to get out of last place now, probably my own fault for talking so much trash at the beginning of this thing. Anyways, for this very exciting tournament, I’m only concerned with making birdies. This course is tiny and they’ll have a ton of birdie looks, so I’m going after a guy that can make a lot of them. Hoffman was 15th on tour in 2020 in birdie or better conversion rate, 12th in birdie or better percentage, and 20th in birdie or better from 125-150 yards (where I think many approaches will come from this week). That’s a whole lot of birdie making, so just have to hope he keeps the bogey making down. I trust that he will because of how short and easy this course is. These guys don’t often miss greens or leave putts that are in 3 putt territory when they have wedges in their hands. With all the scoring he does, I will truly be surprised if his name is not near the top of the leaderboard come Sunday.
