Friday had a full slate of games and a lot of NBA action, including another massive game out of superstar Anthony Davis, who is looking every bit like the player we thought he would when we drafted him number one overall... last season. Let's look back at what happened.

Game Notes for October 28th, 2016
Cavaliers 94, Raptors 91
- This was a close game between two of the best in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers players proved why they are champions and this one was controlled by Kyrie Irving and Lebron James. Irving posted 26 while James contributed 21, both filling the assist and rebound categories as well. After this game we see that the Cavaliers picked up where they left off and are making a strong case why they should be favorites to win it all again. Irving, James, and Kevin Love will power this offense the entire season, fantasy wise, the Cavaliers are a goldmine.
- The Raptors on the other hand will rely on Jonas Valanciunas along with All-Star backcourt in Kyle Lowry and Demar DeRozan. Valanciunas had off night shooting but grabbed 17 boards to fill any void his shooting may have caused. DeRozan had another high scoring game but Lowry struggled from the field which won't cause me to blame him for the loss but it's clear if the Raptors want to win, DeRozan, Lowry, and Valanciunas are going to be overly productive until someone on the Toronto bench steps up.
Pistons 108, Magic 82
- The Pistons improved this offseason and against the Magic, six scored in double digits. If this bench scoring continues, the Pistons should have no problem in an increasingly competitive Eastern Conference especially when Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris contribute is just about every category and lead the team in scoring. Ish Smith seems like a great fit until Reggie Jackson returns. The Pistons are a good team to stack in DFS this early on in the season.
- The Magic have a bright future but lack scoring. Nikola Vucevic had a rough night but should rebound against the Cavaliers. If Elfrid Payton and Aaron Gordon can continue to be productive and allow Vucevic to find his shots, things will get better for him.
Nets 103, Pacers 94
- The Nets are playing like a team competing for a title. Jeremy Lin was a rebound and assist away from a triple double, Trevor Booker was the top rebounder with 11, and Brook Lopez scored like only he knows how. Like the Magic, the Nets are a team with talent but a lack of proven bench scoring will be their ultimate downfall. Lin and Lopez should be fantasy relevant frequently and Lin is a triple double threat until he proves you otherwise. Sean Kilpatrick will be a great value option for the time being, be sure to capitalize on his usage and minutes.
- The Pacers were disappointing. We know they can play better but the Nets clearly got the better of them and no one other than Thaddeus Young had a really solid game. Paul George was not the same as he usually his and Jeff Teague shot poorly. This should not be common and the Pacers have enough firepower and are another good team to stack early in the season. Myles Turner has grown cooler in his games but as a second year center, he's hard to pass up in DFS tournaments.
Hornets 97, Heat 91
- I need to shorten my analysis because I need to get this published before this games become EVEN MORE irrelevant. Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum play well together and when their bench scores as well as they did against the Heat, poor shooting nights can be salvaged. Jeremy Lamb posted 16 which was second on the team. Other than those three, it's tough to make the case for anyone else.
- Miami is full of fantasy gold. Hassan Whiteside, Tyler Johnson, Justise Winslow, and Goran Dragic are all going to get plenty of minutes every night and although they lost, all had very respectable games. The Heat are just another team to stack and I think they will prove to be a reliable source for fantasy production all season.
Thunder 113, Suns 110
- Russell Westbrook is...well, you know. It's hard to buy anyone else on the Thunder and although Andre Roberson salvaged a poor night, he isn't consistent enough to be a reliable pick. Oladipo scored 21 which was much better than his first effort against the 76ers, but Westbrook will be doing this all season. Honestly, I don't think any of this is surprising to even the most casual of NBA fans.
- Suns are young and show promise but can't close out games. They are seemingly oozing with talent but are lacking structure. Proven scorers in an isolation offense is great for fantasy but makes the picks riskier than normal. I would not buy anyone on the Suns until you are kicking yourself for fading Devin Booker or Brandon Knight. TJ Warren will only be a low priced option for a few more weeks so be sure to jump on his bandwagon for the time being.
Rockets 106, Mavericks 98
- Trevor Ariza. Where did this come from? I know he still had a jump shot but dang, I should not have slept on Ariza against this matchup. I think the Mavericks will be sacrificing points all season and they will be a great defense to target for DFS. Harden will fluctuate between high scoring performances and great team basketball but his stats will look nicely in any lineup you have.
- Harrison Barnes is slowly showing why he was paid so much. He will be the facilitator of the Mavericks offense and with so many injuries, this team is an inconsistent mess of players. J.J. Barea, Seth Curry, and Deron Williams will be solid, cheaper, options for guards.
Jazz 96, Lakers 89
- George Hill posted 23 points on 7-14 shooting which solidifies his spot as the primary point guard for the Jazz. Other than that, the rest of the Jazz had very average games. Derrick Favors put up 15 points and nine boards off the bench in his debut after missing the first game with an injury.
- Lakers are young players that reek of streaky shooting. I wouldn't be sold on a Laker even if Kobe was still playing. Base your Laker picks off the matchups. Nick Young may be shooting well, let's see how long it lasts.
Warriors 122, Pelicans 114
- This game was all about Anthony Davis. He is on an absolute tear and even against the double-teaming Warriors, he smoked them. He hit jump shots over two defenders, dunked in traffic and was involved in every possession. You can't ask much more from a player and as much as it pains me to say it...Anthony Davis is injury prone and this voice in my head keeps telling me, ‘it's only a matter of time.’ I'll play Davis when I can. His ridiculously high price in DFS leagues is often worth it. Thinking big picture, I still don't see Davis completing playing every game this season, though.
- Dumb Warriors. Dumb overly-talented, incredibly-skilled, MVP-ridden team that makes fantasy predictions nearly impossible. Curry scored 23, Durant with 30, Klay with 28, and Draymond Green who almost notched a triple double, lacking two points and three assists in a win over the Pelicans… Who's going to go off tonight? KD and Klay? Steph and KD? Draymond? Zaza and Livingston? I may have gotten carried away at the end but you get my point. Pick the Warriors with caution because of...too much talent? Saying that makes me want to go brush my teeth but I really think that picking the Warriors on the right night’s are going prematurely bald most of the DFS community. That being said, they all showed up here in a great win over the Pelicans.
