BALLER MOVE: Add In All Leagues
OWNED IN: 54% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Brooklyn Nets are turning a new leaf this season as Brook Lopez is gone, D’Angelo Russell and Allen Crabbe have arrived and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is poised to take a big step forward. The 22-year-old is already a terrific defender, and coming off a season that saw him play improved basketball down the stretch, he could be looking at further progression. The Brooklyn Nets led the NBA in pace last season, which means they had more scoring opportunities than any team in the league. This sets up Hollis-Jefferson for an intriguing second act to his final series of games last year that saw him average 11 points and seven rebounds.
The Arizona product is already off to a promising start to the new season, picking up 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 28 minutes of action during the team’s season opener. While Jeremy Lin’s season-ending injury may not directly affect his playing time, it could set up more scoring opportunities for Hollis-Jefferson. The fact that he’s a starter and will be playing a good number of minutes this season makes him an even more intriguing choice for an early waiver wire candidate. He may be worth a spot on rosters soon, as his ownership percentage is already creeping nears 50%.
