ANALYSIS: The Mariners' bullpen has been pretty terrible this season, ranking toward the bottom of MLB in home runs, walks, and ERA. An early-season injury to Hunter Strickland has left them mostly employing a committee approach to the late innings. However, Roenis Elias has been their best reliever to this point, and also leads the team with four saves.
Though he hasn't notched a save in nearly a month, Elias is the best bet in the Seattle bullpen for fantasy owners desperately in search of a boost in that category. The Mariners haven't actually had a save situation since April 20, and Anthony Swarzak only got to close that one out because Elias had pitched each of the previous two days. He's posted solid ratios (2.41 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) and struck out 18 batters in 18.2 innings, and a bout of elbow soreness earlier in the year appears to have passed without incident.
