RIVAL Over/Under Picks – Wednesday, April 5, 2023
Last Wednesday’s picks played out horribly and Desmond Bane didn’t even play. It happens and when you watch basketball for long enough you notice things. One being that all it takes is for one to fall and the entire game changes. Through the rough-and-tumble ride that is betting on the NBA, if you’ve made it this far, pat yourself on the back for being one of the few who can withstand getting bullied by prop bets for an entire season.
Jaden Ivey OVER 29.54 fantasy points
The Pistons are on a tremendous losing streak and Jaden Ivey is still managing to post massive stat lines against the tougher opponents. With complete control of the offense it’s not surprising he’s putting up these numbers, but it’s still a very rare case of a rookie with consistent production.
The shooting efficiency might come with time, but over his last nine games he’s had no fewer than five assists and alongside Killian Hayes, both are combining for over half of the team’s nightly assist total.
He’s the clear lead-playmaker with his ability to score from anywhere, so even if the individual lineup looks tough against Brooklyn, it will allow him more chances to create for himself.
Giannis Antetokounmpo OVER 58.87 fantasy points
Taking the under against Giannis Antetokounmpo is just asking for him to have a big game and realistically, it feels like the case every time you go under against an elite superstar, potential-MVP, future Hall of Famer, whatever.
Even when you know it should just be a routine stop, he’ll pull 10 assists, two blocks and a steal out of nowhere and all of a sudden, he’s at 60 fantasy points. The Bulls do not have a quality shot blocker and even if Giannis hits the under here, it won’t be because of anything Chicago did defensively.
Buddy Hield UNDER 23.79 fantasy points
Now that Buddy Hield is on the bench there’s no reason to assume he hits anymore overs. He’s adapted his play to be a more inclusive shooter, but if he’s not hitting then he doesn’t provide much for a team looking to tank.
His improvement over the season will likely garner interest around the league, but this late in the season the potential and high-scoring games won’t and shouldn’t be there…for the Pacers sake.
John Collins UNDER 30.76 fantasy points
John Collins hasn’t been having a productive season and outside of a few games, he really hasn’t been contributing the stats to hit this mark. He’ll need to post a fairly sizable double-double to hit a 30-point over and that’s not something he has been doing lately or at all this season.
Not only are his rebounds at a career-low, but even looking his best games from the last month, when he scored over 20 points he didn’t add any peripheral stats to hit a 30-point fantasy over. If he surpasses it good for him but that game will just be another outlier in his game log.
