The NBA isn’t great at prioritizing defense, but defensive effort is increased during the playoffs and stats tend to see a slight dip with the exception of a few players. RIVAL Over/Under Picks – Monday, April 17, 2023
Now that the playoffs have started, the stats are going to be funneled into appropriate channels for each team and across the board totals will be lower than what they were in the regular season. This is normal and make sure you make the most of these first few games while lines are still adjusting.
Spencer Dinwiddie OVER 31.55 fantasy points
We have to assume Spencer Dinwiddie won’t have the easiest time out much like his Game 1 performance, but only three players on the Nets were able to get anything going and the only thing holding Dinwiddie back was missed shots.
He controlled the offense, led the team in assists, and scoring 14 points on 12 shots really could be worse compared to his teammates.
He still held the second highest usage on the team and that’s what we are chasing since as the games go on Brooklyn will be looking more and more towards their most consistent playmaker.
Kevon Looney UNDER 29.4 fantasy points
There have been few role players better than Kevon Looney and although some of his props were cashing consistently earlier in the season, we can’t compare the regular season to playoffs.
His most recent stat line in Game 1 is exactly what he should be posting since his focus is keeping Domantas Sabonis off the boards and setting screens.
It’s hard not to like Looney as a player, but his under is going to be a secret underground vault for bettors.
Cameron Johnson UNDER 27.63 fantasy points
Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, and Spencer Dinwiddie are all the Nets have to offer and all three are likely to scrape at 20 points every playoff game. Bridges is at the top of the totem pole, but Cam Johnson waits on the perimeter with the best of them.
He’s going to get shot attempts, but Game 1 seemed like a positive game for him and he still wasn’t exactly close to his projected.
He’ll need to post some peripheral stats for him to hit this line and that likely won’t happen in the playoffs with everyone trying to get in on the action.
Domantas Sabonis UNDER 47.62 fantasy points
The Warriors defend well and even though Domantas Sabonis will still post a double-double, hitting 47 fantasy points on RIVAL is no small feat.
Sabonis isn’t the strongest scorer and to have a great game against Golden State, you need to dominate the paint or shoot exceptionally well.
Sabonis has the ability to own the paint, but if he’s not spacing the offense and getting assists than this projected is aimed toward Sabonis when he was posting triple-doubles.
