RIVAL Over/Under Picks
We’ve already seen the Nuggets win one game and playing in Denver wasn’t the reason for it. The Suns defense is terrible and Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray are going to dominate this series one way or the other. Deandre Ayton and Landry Shamet can’t be your response and it’s bold expecting them to overcome the haymakers Murray and Jokic are capable of handing out. Unless literally playing in a different zip code gives the Suns players superpowers, this should be a quick sweep. Between Boston and Philadelphia, until Joel Embiid returns this really isn’t a contest.
Jayson Tatum OVER 49.44 fantasy points
Like stated earlier, no Embiid means the 76ers are playing without an engine. Paul Reed cleans the glass as a quality backup center, but he’s not the reason Philadelphia is here.
Tatum struggled to score against the 76ers throughout the season and based on that game history, the under is the safer bet. That being said, Embiid carried the offense in the games he played in and the defense without him exposes their paint to players like Tatum.
As long as Tatum has upside based on the opposing defense and is taking upwards of 20 shots a game, the over is the way to go.
Bruce Brown OVER 23.52 fantasy points
Bruce Brown isn’t usually the safest bet, but he’s been utilizing his floater to the point where he’s actually become a fairly consistent member of the offense.
Lately, he’s posting double-digit points in more games than not and it’s has nothing to do with efficiency on his jump shots. Until there’s a clear sign that he won’t be the one running the second unit, Brown peaked at just the right time.
Near the end of the season, he was taking a ton of shots and that confidence has trickled into the playoffs to the point where he has fairly significant control of the offense off the bench. That means production as long as he keeps up this scoring aggression.
Al Horford UNDER 24.68 fantasy points
Betting the under against Al Horford when he’s receiving a good chunk of minutes is weirdly intimidating. He rarely posts big games, but if there is any time for him to put up stats, it’s when Embiid isn’t playing.
Still, with the Celtics likely to win Game 1 and Horford yet to really force his hand in terms of production, we have to assume he has another underwhelming game, regardless of the competition, because that’s just how he plays.
Against the Hawks, he didn’t take many shots and even had a game where he scored zero points despite playing 34 minutes. The over might seem viable, but that’s only because Paul Reed looks like an easy target and that’s not exactly the case.
Nikola Jokic OVER 59.19 fantasy points
Clips are circulating to the masses and they are being educated by Social Media University on the skills and abilities of certain NBA players. The current course is Deandre Ayton.
Jokic loves rebounds and centers who struggle to rebound. Enter Ayton, a center that sometimes loses the rebound battle to the tenacity of Chris Paul and Torrey Craig.
Jamal Murray was able to do most of the work himself Game 1 and Jokic still just missed posting a 20-20 game. There was nothing about the Suns defense that made it seem like they could do anything about either of the Nuggets star players and if anything, the Suns weakest point is their biggest player.
