ANALYSIS: San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall made his debut after recovering from a gunshot wound, and caught three passes for 21 yards on five targets in the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He did get some playing time, which is a good thing. But the most impactful event for his outlook wasn't his play.
OH YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.
Brandon Aiyuk TOO!?

NFL sources confirmed that fellow wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL on Sunday, meaning Pearsall will be thrust into a larger role almost immediately. He appears to be fully healthy, and he should slot in as the team's third receiver alongside Deebo Samuel Sr. (illness) and Jauan Jennings. It's unclear how big his role will be.
However, in elite offensive mind Kyle Shanahan's system, even the third receiver should usually be rostered. He was a first-round NFL Draft pick, so he has draft capital going for him. Samuel has had issues with injuries in the past as well, and it only takes one to potentially put him in a very prominent role.
Ricky Pearsall has made his 1st-career reception in his NFL debut 🙏
Niner fans show him love with a standing ovation ❤️
