The NASCAR Cup Series ran the Toyota Owners 400 this past Sunday night at Richmond Raceway with Denny Hamlin emerging victorious after a late caution and controversy on the restart prevented the dominant car in the race (Martin Truex, Jr.'s No. 19 Toyota) from reaching victory lane.
Pole sitter, Kyle Larson, had the best Average Running Position (2.71) during Sunday night's race with Martin Truex, Jr. coming in closely behind him at 2.88. Race-winner, Denny Hamlin, still had a strong Richmond race with the fifth-best Average Running Position (8.17).
Of the top five finishers in this weekend's event, Chase Elliott had the worst Average Running Position (9.06), ranking seventh-best in that statistic but finishing fifth. It is noteworthy that Bubba Wallace and Josh Berry, who ranked fourth and sixth (respectively) in Average Running Position, each had pit road issues late and were relegated to 13th- and 11th-place finishes.
