BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 31% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Longtime A's farmhand Renato Nunez saw his prospect star dim in recent years as he began to hear the dreaded "Quad-A" label. He's doing his best to turn that around this season in Baltimore however, mashing 14 home runs with 34 RBI through his first 55 games of the season.
He's on pace for nearly 40 round trippers and over 100 RBI, and is still available in nearly 70% of Yahoo leagues. Why? Well, for starters, his slash line is a pretty terrible .244/.293/.498 with a 5.1% walk rate and a 25.6% strikeout rate.
However, while that batting average isn't likely to change (he has a .249 xBA) those power numbers are certainly worth paying attention to. Nunez has made a conscious change in his approach, pulling the ball at the highest rate of his career. Considering he hits .453 on pulled balls and .037 on balls hit the opposite way, you have to like seeing him try to pull everything in sight.
He's still a risk, as those plate discipline numbers are not great and playing in Baltimore will limit his runs and RBI opportunities, but those kind of power numbers should make him fantasy relevant in 12+ team leagues.
