ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Reid Detmers has been off to a dazzling start to the 2024 season. On March 31, Detmers threw five innings of one-run ball against the Baltimore Orioles and followed that with a six-inning one-run performance against the Boston Red Sox on April 6.

Detmers was a trendy breakout pick last year, but the fantasy community seems to have been a year too early on the southpaw.
The former tenth-overall pick has an overall 1.64 ERA and 0.82 WHIP in 11 innings, with an eye-catching 19 strikeouts and two wins. This start is a huge step in the right direction for the 24-year-old, who struggled last season with a 4.48 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.
A significant reason for his impressive start was the improvement in his fastball. In 2023, his four-seamers posted a .291BA and .290xBA, while this season, they sport a dominant .067 and .133, respectively.
While it has only been two starts, it is crucial to get ahead of your league-mates and add Detmers to your roster now, as he could be in store for a dominant season.
Detmers is tentatively lined up for a rematch against the Red Sox on April 12.
