Re-Drafting The 2020 NFL Draft: Entire First Round Do-Over

Joe Burrow - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Re-Drafting The 2020 NFL Draft: Entire First Round Do-Over Mike Fanelli does over the 2020 NFL Draft nearly four years later.

The 2020 NFL Draft might be one of the best in league history. We got five legitimate franchise-caliber quarterbacks that year.

There were also several talented offensive tackles, wide receivers, and safeties in the 2020 draft class. However, how would things look with the benefit of hindsight?

Let’s look at a do-over of the 2020 NFL Draft. While current team needs will play a role in picking, most of the decision comes down to the best player on the board. There will be no trades in this do-over, while the final draft order from that night will be used.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Picks No. 1-10

1) Cincinnati Bengals – Joe Burrow

The Bengals got it right the first time around, selecting Burrow. The former LSU star couldn’t stay healthy in 2023. However, he totaled at least 4,600 passing yards and 34 touchdowns in both healthy years. Burrow is the first No. 1 overall pick to lead his team to the Super Bowl in his second NFL season.

Original Pick: Joe Burrow

2) Washington Football Team – Justin Herbert

Washington has gone through multiple name changes over the past several years. Yet, they still haven’t figured out the quarterback position. While many don’t consider Herbert on the same level as Joe Burrow, the former Oregon star is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

Original Pick: Chase Young

3) Detroit Lions – AJ Terrell

While you can argue that the Lions would take a quarterback during this re-do draft, Jared Goff has played well the past few seasons. However, the team’s secondary is one of the worst in the league. Terrell has become one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL and would be a difference-maker for a struggling Detroit defense.

Original Pick: Jeff Okudah

4) New York Giants – Jalen Hurts

Daniel Jones hasn’t worked out in New York. While he played well enough in 2022 to earn a contract extension from the Giants, the former top-10 pick has struggled to stay healthy and become a difference-maker. Hurts might not be a top-three quarterback, but he would be a massive upgrade over what is currently on the roster.

Original Pick: Andrew Thomas

5) Miami Dolphins – Tua Tagovailoa

The Dolphins hold Tagovailoa in high regard. The former Alabama star played every game in 2023, posting career highs in many passing categories. He also led the NFL in passing yards last season, totaling 4,624. While Tagovailoa isn’t a superstar, Miami could do a lot worse at the quarterback position.

Original Pick: Tua Tagovailoa

6) Los Angeles Chargers – Jordan Love

Ideally, the Chargers would love to keep their current franchise quarterback. However, Love looks like a star in the making after an impressive 2023 season. Los Angeles can’t pass up on a quarterback in this re-do draft, even if it’s not the superstar they currently have on their team.

Original Pick: Justin Herbert

7) Carolina Panthers – Justin Jefferson

Even though it’s been nearly four years since the 2020 NFL Draft, it’s still a surprise that Jefferson was the fifth wide receiver off the board. Now he becomes the seventh overall pick in this re-do draft. The former LSU star is the best wide receiver in the NFL. Unfortunately, the Panthers have arguably the worst receiving core in the league.

Original Pick: Derrick Brown

8) Arizona Cardinals – CeeDee Lamb

While Justin Jefferson is the best wide receiver from the 2020 NFL Draft, Lamb is right behind him as a top-five guy. The former Oklahoma star is coming off a career year, leading the NFL in receptions with 135. Pairing Lamb with his former college quarterback Kyler Murray in Arizona would be exciting to watch.

Original Pick: Isaiah Simmons

9) Jacksonville Jaguars – Tristan Wirfs

Trevor Lawrence is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL. However, he hasn’t reached his ceiling because of inconsistent receivers and offensive line. While there isn’t a wide receiver worthy of a top-10 pick still on the board, Wirfs would help transform Jacksonville’s offensive line right away.

Original Pick: C.J. Henderson

10) Cleveland Browns – Andrew Thomas

Cleveland came away with a solid left tackle during the 2020 NFL Draft. However, Thomas has been one of the top left tackles in the league. Unfortunately, he wasn’t available when they picked four years ago, but he is during this re-do draft.

Original Pick: Jedrick Wills Jr.

Picks No. 11-20

11) New York Jets – Jedrick Wills Jr.

Unfortunately, Becton’s NFL career has been ruined with numerous injuries and weight issues. The Jets have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and lack a franchise-caliber left tackle. While Wills isn’t a top-five guy, he is a massive upgrade over anyone New York has on the roster.

Original Pick: Mekhi Becton

12) Las Vegas Raiders – Alex Highsmith

The 2020 NFL Draft class lacks an elite pass rusher. Highsmith was a third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers that many called a reach. However, the former Charlotte star has 21.5 sacks over the past two years.

Original Pick: Henry Ruggs III

13) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Antoine Winfield Jr.

This pick was the first by the Buccaneers with Tom Brady on the team. Therefore, it’s no surprise that they took an offensive lineman. Unfortunately, their star offensive tackle isn’t available during the re-do draft. Tampa Bay grabs their second-round star safety a round earlier instead.

Original Pick: Tristan Wirfs

14) San Francisco 49ers – Brandon Aiyuk

San Francisco got this pick from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for DeForest Buckner. While they used this pick on his replacement, it was their later first-round pick that they should have drafted. Aiyuk is one of the better young wide receivers in the NFL, playing a massive role in the 49ers’ elite receiving core.

Original Pick: Javon Kinlaw

15) Denver Broncos – Tee Higgins

Higgins was the top pick in the second round, giving Joe Burrow one of his two No. 1 caliber wide receivers. However, the former Clemson star doesn’t make it out of the top 15 in the re-do draft. The Broncos lack proven wide receivers outside of Courtland Sutton on the roster.

Original Pick: Jerry Jeudy

16) Atlanta Falcons – Trevon Diggs

Ideally, the Falcons would love to land their original pick again in this re-do draft. However, Diggs is a solid consolation prize. The Alabama alum has 18 interceptions in 47 career games, including an NFL-high 11 in 2021.

Original Pick: AJ Terrell

17) Dallas Cowboys – Michael Pittman Jr.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys can’t make their original pick again. While that’s disappointing, Dallas can still get a No. 1 caliber wide receiver in Pittman. Despite playing with several sub-par quarterbacks in his career, the former USC star has had at least 925 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons.

Original Pick: CeeDee Lamb

18) Miami Dolphins – Michael Onwenu

The Dolphins’ offensive line was solid in 2023. Yet, it could be much better with some changes. Onwenu has starting experience at left tackle, right tackle, and guard during his time with the New England Patriots. He could easily step in as Tua Tagovailoa’s blindside protector.

Original Pick: Austin Jackson

19) Las Vegas Raiders – Tyler Biadasz

While Aidan O’Connell was solid as a rookie, the Raiders need an upgrade at quarterback. Unfortunately, there isn’t one worthy of the pick on the board, so the team turns to improving their offensive line. Biadasz has been one of the top centers in the NFL since his rookie year, missing only two games.

Original Pick: Damon Arnette

20) Jacksonville Jaguars – L’Jarius Sneed

Jacksonville has had awful luck with first-round edge rushers in the past. Therefore, it’s not surprising that they go elsewhere in the re-do draft. Sneed was one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL last season. The Jaguars play in a division with multiple young star quarterbacks, making improving their secondary a must.

Original Pick: K’Lavon Chaisson

Picks No. 21-32

21) Philadelphia Eagles – Jonathan Taylor

Few teams value the run game more than the Eagles. However, they’ve never had an elite running back, instead opting for guys like Miles Sanders and D'Andre Swift. While they won’t land Jalen Hurts in this re-do draft, Philadelphia does secure arguably the most explosive and dangerous running back in the NFL.

Original Pick: Jalen Reagor

22) Minnesota Vikings – AJ Epenesa

The Vikings hit a home run during the 2020 NFL Draft, selecting the top wide receiver in the league. With him unavailable in the re-do draft, Minnesota turns their attention to the defensive line. Epenesa has had 6.5 sacks in back-to-back seasons and would have been an excellent addition alongside Danielle Hunter.

Original Pick: Justin Jefferson

23) Los Angeles Chargers – Jaylon Johnson

Cornerback has been a need for the Chargers for years. Asante Samuel Jr. was a solid pick during the 2021 NFL Draft, but the team lacks other reliable options. Johnson had a breakout year in 2023 and would give Los Angeles the talented cornerback duo they need in the AFC West division.

Original Pick: Kenneth Murray

24) New Orleans Saints – Cesar Ruiz

Sometimes, sticking with your original idea or pick is the right call. Ruiz has settled in at right guard for the Saints, signing a four-year extension worth $44 million back before the start of the 2023 season.

Original Pick: Cesar Ruiz

25) San Francisco 49ers – Jonathan Greenard

San Francisco has one of the top defensive lines in the NFL, investing multiple first-round picks in the unit. After taking Brandon Aiyuk with their earlier first-round pick in this re-do draft, the 49ers add to their defense line. Greenard had a career-high 12.5 sacks this past year.

Original Pick: Brandon Aiyuk

26) Green Bay Packers – Jeremy Chinn

The Packers have ignored the safety position for years. While they used a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft on Darnell Savage, that shouldn’t have stopped Green Bay from double dipping in 2020. Chinn can play multiple positions in the secondary, giving the Packers something they desperately lack.

Original Pick: Jordan Love

27) Seattle Seahawks – Logan Wilson

Many were shocked when the Seahawks took a linebacker in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. While the pick was productive, Wilson is arguably the top linebacker from that draft class. He has totaled 100 or more tackles in three consecutive years, including 135 last season, a career-high.

Original Pick: Jordyn Brooks

28) Baltimore Ravens – Justin Madubuike

Only the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers value their defensive lines more than the Ravens. Baltimore struck gold with Madubuike during the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. They don’t take any chances during the re-do draft and grab the star defensive lineman in the first round.

Original Pick: Patrick Queen

29) Tennessee Titans – Grant Delpit

No team did a worse job picking during the 2020 NFL Draft than the Titans. Thankfully, the re-do draft gives them the chance to fix things. The team has had issues in the secondary for years. Delpit would give Tennessee a leader in the back end that can impact the game in multiple ways.

Original Pick: Isaiah Wilson

30) Miami Dolphins – Cole Kmet

Miami’s passing attack is designed to get Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle the ball as often as possible. However, adding another weapon would be ideal. Kmet isn’t a superstar, but he consistently makes plays in the middle part of the field.

Original Pick: Noah Igbinoghene

31) Minnesota Vikings – Derrick Brown

Unfortunately, the Vikings made a massive mistake with this pick during the 2020 NFL Draft. Yet, they make it right during the re-do draft, selecting Brown. The former Auburn star had over 100 tackles in 2023, a rarity for a defensive lineman.

Original Pick: Jeff Gladney

32) Kansas City Chiefs – Jordyn Brooks

It’s amazing how the Chiefs can win three of the past five Super Bowls despite making massive mistakes during the first round of NFL Drafts. Instead of wasting their first-round pick on an injury-prone running back, Kansas City adds to their elite defense with a star linebacker.

Original Pick: Clyde Edwards-Helaire
