Houston Texans - NFL Betting Analysis
Following a season where they wrapped up with a total record of just 3-13-1, the Texans are gearing up for their season opener. In the AFC-South, Houston finished 4th and posted a 3-2-1 record against their division opponents. On their home field, the Texans concluded with a 0-7-1 record, and when away from home, they went 3-6.
At the quarterback position, the Texans are turning to rookie C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State. Stroud was drafted in the 1st round in this past year's draft. Houston's leading passer from last season was Davis Mills who threw for 3118 yards on a completion percentage of 61.0%. For the season, he finished with 17 compared to 15 interceptions. In 2022, the Texans offense finished 30th in the NFL in third-down conversion rate (30.3%) and averaged 283.5 yards per game, putting them 14th in the league. On average, they threw the ball 34.1 times per game leading to 196.7 receiving yards per contest. Houston's rushing attack finished 30th in yards per attempt.
The Texans' defense is coming off a season in which they were 26th in points allowed and gave up an average of 379.5 yards per game (30th). When looking at how they got after the quarterback, Houston was 10th while also finishing 22nd in quarterback hits while hitting the QB on 14.3% of their dropbacks.

On defense, the Ravens finished the season ranked 3rd in points allowed at 18.8 points per contest. On the road, Baltimore gave up 20 points per game compared to 17.4 at home. In terms of yardage, the Ravens gave up 319.3 yards per game and finished the season 4th in turnovers.
Against the spread, the Ravens put together a record of 9-9 on an average scoring margin of +1.6 points per game. As the favorite, the Ravens were 4-8 vs. the spread while going 5-1 (ATS) as the underdog. Baltimore's over/under record came in at 6-12.
